the globetrotters exist as a celebration of basketball for people who love the game while the Bananas exist for people who hate baseball, there's a significant difference to me.

it's justifiable for a little kids' act but it is also an affront to baseball and the farther it stays from discussions about the actual sport, the better imo.
Are you one of those people who yell at kids to get off your lawn?

Interesting perspective. Wondering what makes you say the Bananas exist for people who hate baseball? I know a lot of people who went to see the Bananas this weekend in Kenan and none of them hate baseball…
in contrast with the Globetrotters, whose ethos has always been that they bring the playground to the stadium and play basketball the way we dream about as kids, the Bananas inorganically add stuff to baseball that has nothing to do with baseball and is for the benefit of people who wouldn't be entertained enough by normal-*** baseball being played.

obviously it's not just people who hate baseball who watch them, but they certainly seem to exist because somebody thought just baseball wasn't able to sell enough tickets. maybe he was right, but it's an awfully cynical view of sports to take.

My son and wife (mid 20s) went to yesterday’s show at Kenan and both said that although it was entertaining, they definitely would wait until they had kids before going to see the Bananas again. He played ball through high school and still loves the game and the games inside the game.

If the Bananas played 81 games a season on the same field like the MLB, or even 30-35 like a major D1 team, I wonder how many “fans” would be double digit attendees to their games. I’m sure that a lot of people went this weekend to be entertained, whether they hate, like, or love baseball.
