AD - he willed us to a title, much more so than Stokes.
Mashburn turned the program around during probation and got Pitino rolling. Wall made UK cool again after Gillespie and got Cal rolling. Stokes potentially could be that guy for Pope

Who knows the impact he could have on UK bball history, but for Coach Pope he just may be the most important recruit of his career.

I think so. When we got AD we were very well established as a heavyweight. Great that we got him and fair enough to say that in retrospect it would be hard to say for sure that Cal could have won a title without him.
But we were a force and legitmate royalty in that era whether we got AD or not, even whether we won that title or not.
When we got Mashburn we were in the dumpster. When we got Wall we were in the dumpster. Right now we are in the dumpster.
If we get Stokes, Stokes will be a very big deal for Kentucky.

I think Stokes to Pope is what Mashburn was to Pitino and Wall was to Cal. Pope needs this one to turn this around.
Whatever money Pope has sitting in the bank, he needs to take an extra million and find a way to get it to Stokes.

Who knows if we even get him or how he will play, but his commitment is in the tier of important players to be signed by each coach.
If we get him he will need to perform up to expectations to be included with Mash & Wall in their importance.
I can say FOR SURE, Cal would absolutely NOT have won a title without him. LMAO
EDIT: This isn’t a “gotcha” post. Always liked you as a poster. I just see no way in the world Cal wins one minus AD.
