Absolutely. If this year flops I look for him to not even finish the season as coach.
You do remember that everyone, and I mean everyone, thought Pope had killed it last year in the portal. Seriously, people have amnesia. UK people, and so called experts, thought that he had put together too much talent, and wouldn’t be able to keep everyone happy.

Hoping we land some of these guys but expecting what we all know. Prove the country wrong and get some studs. This is Kentucky.
The next 48-72 hours coming up for Mark Pope are huge. Don’t think you can overstate it. He has an incredible opportunity to change the narrative some fans have about him in a very short amount of time.
Portal is open for declaring another 8 -9 days.

CMP needs to have a big next season if he wants to continue coaching. If he can’t win or be near the top of the SEC while making deep runs in both tournaments, I can’t think of a good reason why he should be retained. So I agree, having a great team is tantamount for CMP
Maybe he's realized that throwing your money at a few studs is better than spreading it out over 12 guys that aren't game changers. If so, then that would be a good first step to being more successful here. He still has to actually get these guys signed though. I'm optimistic for the first time in awhile, but understand we still have a long way to go
Possibly, and to that I say oh well. We need starting level talent and we currently don't have it. Pope is winning nothing with what he currently has, that's just the harsh reality. Throw the bag at Wright, Stokes, and another true talent to go with Moreno, and we can use the moneyball BLUEprint to fill out the bench with mid-majors if some of our current guys decide to leave. Get your starters first, then fill out the bench.

Yeo we had a Ferrari. We ended up in a ditch with Mitch’s cousin’s tow truck coming to get us out.
We need recruiting wins but that’s only step one. And an important one. But the the challenge will be to win games.
If we have a rough start in either or both Mark is gone.

That’s true. However, I think Pope was really banking on having JQ for the second semester, healthy. Also, he thought he was gonna have a healthy Lowe and have a solid backup PG, in that kid went to Nova. Many, many people said Lowe was our best player during the offseason, based on what they had seen early on. Then Aberdeen to fill in at the 1-3.
Losing both of your pure PGs cannot be understated IMHO. Everyone thought we had too much talent. Even Goodman said this, after watching us practice. I still think the chemistry was off. Something happened and we’ll probably never know what. JMO.
