This kid is a beast. Popping way more than Stokes in this hoop summit game. Pope needs to make a strong push for him, he’d be a perfect fit as a 7-foot mobile stretch 4 with plus athleticism.

Need multiple guys with NBA potential to get back into contention and he’d be one for sure.

Not sure about this kid. Haven't seen him. But, it was disheartening seeing the skill level of the bigs in the final 4. Long mobile dudes who were all over the court who could shoot and had skill around the basket. Seems every big we get is so unskilled and or weak and or doesn't develop from one year to the next.

They are also well coached. To be fair Amari looked great under Pope so I hope he finds more guys like him again.

I’m not sure Muurinen even goes to college, if he does UNC sure seems like the most likely and I could see Cal landing him. We’d be 3rd place in that recruitment but he is definitely on the board for us. Everyone’s roster will play a big role by the time he looks to commit if he takes the college route.

All the trolls get together and say nah pope can't get him. First year he had to throw a team together and second had to prioritize guys like oweh. He could depending on what we pay him and other players we get. I thought waiting on oweh killed us with some players. Even though he probably was most consistent.

But Muurinen’s a bit different than other Euro bigs. What sets him apart is not the ball skills as much as it is the crazy speed and bounce for a 6’11” white guy:

I would LOVE to land this guy. He looks like he’d be really fun to watch in a UK uniform.

If Malone walks in off the street and builds a better roster than Pope I’m gonna be pissed
Prepare to be pissed. Keep in mind, Malone got fired sitting 4th in the West. All over a pi$$ing match with ownership and roster management. Stan Kronke is the owner. Josh, his son, was in charge of the roster. See where this is headed? One of Josh’s buddies was an assistant and is now the head coach. Long story short, Malone can absolutely coach. My guess is UNC will be immediately relevant.

Kentucky Basketball is in a rebuild mode. Players like this are not only not coming here, but we can’t afford them. If I had a nickel for every time one of the so-called recruiting gurus suggested we were leading for a player only to watch him commit to another team the next day, I’d be a janillionaire. (Google it) We gonna get lower level guys for the next 3-5 years as we rebuild the brand. And that’s with or without CMP.

He is out of reach for us currently without way over paying. We can only overpay for 1 maybe 2 guys this year.

Moreno would have barely seen the floor for any of the final four teams

You’re living in the past. There’s no such thing as “rebuild mode” in this new NIL/portal era … especially for a power conference school with UK’s financial resources. Teams are now expected to “reload“, not rebuild.

This is an era where in just two seasons Michigan goes from 8-24 to a 37-3 national champ. And Indiana football goes from 3-9 to a 16-0 national champ. So why didn’t May and Cignetti need “3-5 years” to “rebuild the brand“?

There ain’t much excuse for it to take a long time with Pope.

He'd be a good bench piece
How many times have you seen him play? Not highlights but games. My guess is ZERO, yet you make a statement that he could possibly come off the bench.

I have also seen him zero times, watched some highlights and believe he is a 4 or 5 star. So I have no knowledge of his capability to play or not play at an SEC level and will not guess.

If the $22 million dollars spent last year is true, I don’t believe it is, then we can afford 2-3 high dollar high school or portal players.

What difference does that make, you are going to be pissed off at Pope anyway. Why don't you leave Pope alone and let him do his job. Unlike at least 1/2 of you on here think you know more about basketball than he does. Shocker, you don't.

Yours assuming Pope is in the same class with those two guy? Did you fall and hit your head? Cause that’s a hematoma talking. We damn sure are in a rebuild mode. We are rebuilding from not only the last two years but the 7 years prior to with that greaseball gumba running the program straight in the ground. And I’m not even touching the JMI mystery. Top recruits visit, then cut us from their list like a fat girl during prom week. Kentucky as we knew it, is over.

There are very few ready made stars in the portal. The ones who would be are often out of eligibility, going to the draft, or staying with their team.

In general, even the big signings, are going to be good, not elite, players from the prior season. Some of these good players become elites. Coaches/programs hope to find these good players who project to be elite.
