I agree. Just another opportunity to remind everyone that verbal committments from people who have yet to graduate from high school are equivocal.
As I find myself now raising two boys in the college recruiting age range, I’m shocked - and maybe even a little embarrassed - at how much faith I used to put into these commitments.

That’s not a knock on you or anyone else. It’s just as if I’ve been given a peek behind the curtain and can now see how delicate of a thing these choices are. I certainly wouldn’t want to be the one tasked with keeping them locked in to a decision for months, much less years.

Agreed. All the more reason I stress to my kids to wait and make the decision at a later date when they can be more certain.

If he’s taken four trips to Florida since January, it was never a real commitment.

As others have pointed out, verbal commitments don’t mean much—and even signed ones carry limited weight. Coaches are constantly recruiting both new prospects and current players just to build and maintain a roster.

At this point, maybe player names should be attached to jerseys with Velcro to keep up with all the changes.

The "lack of commitment" blame can not be solely placed on the recruits. Just look at this year with the coaching carousel that happened.
I totally lost count of how many went on to different programs, and that is just HC's (add all the asst coaches and staff).
These coaches are just as complicit with the lack of commitment.

A promising talent with size but normal in the recruiting process nonetheless. Carolina will flip their share of players as well.

Sumrall MIGHT be a star Head Coach. It's hard to say for sure. He led 2 different programs to national Top 20 finishes. But he was at each school only a couple of years. So, time will tell. He is defensive-minded. As the Bear said, "Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships".

I would have more respect for him if he just said they offered me more money. That lame my position coach played in the SEC and knows what it’s like is pretty lame. “They all knew my name” on the last visit was lame. Just say it’s the money.
