I’ve been a downer on Stokes for awhile. However, after watching more film of him, I’m intrigued. His passing skills at his size is incredible. Put him at top of key and run your offense through him. He has a good enough jumper to keep the defense honest. Surround him with shooters. He’s a playmaking machine and would thrive in that role IMO.
I've hesitated to post it here but I've been thinking Antoine Walker to be a reasonable comparison to Stokes for awhile now.

We will see. Not getting my hopes up. Maybe we can kidnap him?

He also rebounds and plays with physicality, we have to rebound better to win big.

Agreed. In a weird way, I’m much more confident in him being a college star than an NBA one.

Wish he was more 6 foot 9 and long instead of the 6’6 powerful 3 that he looks like.
He is 6’7” with a 7 foot wingspan, he is long. He won’t get pushed around like a 6’9” skinny guy. We lacked physicality last season.

Tyran Stokes, a top-ranked prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, has a wingspan measured at approximately 7 feet.

  • Height/Weight: He is listed at 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds.
  • Physical Profile: Stokes is described as a powerful, long, and explosively athletic wing/forward.
  • Playing Style: Due to his length and strength, he is a dominant finisher in transition and a capable playmaker.

This kid looks like he's missing a chromosome. I don't know how into him I am - feels loud and obnoxious on the court. Doesn't he have a polarizing rep? I know we are desperate, but man. These are the kind of kids you'd usually leave to Memphis to take.

Troll? Self? Seriously, who posts this garbage.
Get lost. Stokes is coming to UK and he will be the best player in college next year.
Go kick rocks.

Pope is hinging his entire career on signing this young man. Other elite portal players aren't going to wait on Stokes' decision.

BBN will riot if our portal class suffers bc Pope mishandled this situation. HUGE gamble 🎰.
So much relies on Stokes coming here I feel like. If we can't get Stokes, it might be the nail in the coffin for Pope. Perhaps the only way Pope can bounce back from all of his mishaps is if he can somehow get Stokes.

I don’t know if Stokes would work under Pope but that’s a little offensive in my opinion. You give us good Anon’s a bad rep

The only reason why we have even been this far is Nike. Remember when Pope went all out to thank Nike after the Tennessee game on the Uniforms? He was making a case for what a good partnership we had with Nike and their importance to the program. He was speaking directly in a way that was asking them for help on this situation. Everyone knows it. This is the last gasp, Nike is really pushing for him not to go to Kansas, ultimately the kid is going to do what he wants to do. The amount of social media impressions Tyran Stokes is going to have at Kentucky vs Kansas is a significant amount. The right business move is to come to Kentucky, but Kansas is selling him on his development, getting him ready for the NBA, and his relationships. We will see what happens.

Just calling it like I see it. Watch tonight and see how you think he compares from a size perspective to the top 3s and 3/4 hybrids that we just watched in college basketball. Dybantsa, Ament, Yaxel, Haugh, etc.

Measurements are phony baloney across the board in sports and everyone knows it.

I want to say Stokes and Pope would be oil and water, but this morning on the way to work I thought of Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson. Two polar opposite personalities but it worked. Am I fishing for reasons to think it can work? Idk maybe
You have never seen Phil Jackson leading cheers in his old basketball uniform. He is not a Dork. Nuff said.

Coming to see how many more millions were ready to offer now. Remember the kid was supposed to commit two months ago.

Let’s just go ahead and give him the full 20 million.
We can start him, Moreno, Hawthorne, and two walk ons. After two games he can get “injured” and be out until the combine where he’s miraculously healthy.

Ive seen him play several times already , I don' t like to comment on players unless I have. If numbers are phony balogna then they are for everyone not just Tyran, so it evens out. There are also many videos of Stokes playing against Dybansta and Ament as a year younger than them inn aau and Stokes definitely holds his own.

I agree. Just pay him whatever it takes.
So short sited - yeah, let's become $$ University. Where you come to be fat and lazy, and get paid. That's the culture you want to build. Back up the brink's and say hey, we'll pay you whatever you want. Good lord almighty. There was a day when players would come to be part of the UK experience - now they need gold buillon to come.

That's just the way college basketball is now. It's not like guys at other schools are picking them because they have a deep love for them as they just want the bucks also.

I don't think that's how top program's are doing it TBH. They have a plan they put in front of the kid, with fair market value. Kid needs to buy into the opportunity, the goal, the vision - then you pay him market, not just throw benjamins and say please come.

I don't know what Pope is selling is the issue. First, he doesn't seem like a good salesman, which is half the job. It's 100% of what Cal is. Even a guy like Hurley can shovel the ****, but he combines that with discipline and planning.

Pope is damned if he loses stokes and he’s damned if he keeps recruiting him til the end. The only way people aren’t going to find a negative is if and when the kid commits to Ky. If he stops recruiting the kid because others might not wait, fans will be angry, if he recruits til the end and he goes to Kansas, fans will be angry. I would absolutely hate to coach the team I grew up loving. I remember I used to get defensive when people said we had the worst fan base, now I can’t

How do you think portal recruits feel about playing with Stokes?

Popes first year team ran some very nice sets. His BYU teams did as well.
Hoping Pope will utilize Tyran out top as a point forward. He’s a surprisingly good passer. Let him initiate the offense rather than a center. Three skill player out there. Shoot pass and dribble. I think Stokes would like that role and excel in it.

Mark- listen to me and talk to him about this approach. It can be easily worked into your offense.
