Ohio-W Solid MAC program could be competitive going into the second half.

BGSU-W Weakest program on our schedule.

UND-W Solid FCS program another game that will be a measuring stick for line improvement.

@ MSU-L Don’t like this game at all. Fitzgerald even in year one is dangerous. A classic B1G rock fight that we typically lose.

MD-W I believe the Huskers move the ball at will but the Defenses’ weakness will become apparent in our second conference game.

IU-L Obviously.

@ ORE-L Another obvious loss.

WASH-L Better talent and Coach.

@ ILL-L Another coach with tons of B1G experience. Rhule will be soundly out coached.

@ RUTG-W A rock fight I believe we win.

OSU-L Another obvious mismatch.

@ IOWA-L Again another game where we are out coached and whipped at the LOS.

Final Record: 5-7

Only foolish people would vote Nebraska in the top 25 much less top 15 with our early season schedule. Perhaps IF we dominate these opponents then maybe but what have we seen recently that would suggest such an outcome? It is very likely we will get destroyed by Indiana whether on not it is on TV, we have not shown the ability to play with them so until we do along with everyone else in the country, we have a good idea of the outcome. Hoping for the best from the two QB's but neither has proven anything yet at this level so there is a long ways to go. Not be negative but reality sometimes stinks.
Happens every year. Last year's team had major holes on paper, an obvious deficiency up front on both sides of the ball and yet we had a "hot" start. The funniest stat from last year was that Matt Rhule was 1-2 against backup coaches...that has to be the most embarrassing thing. You are gifted to play three teams whose coach has either been fired or suspended mid-season and you can't even win a majority of those games.

Wrong Ted just showed Trev how to get around the contract issue with Carolina. Just go beat up some more women .
Contract issue? WTF you talking about? We removed over 25 million dollars of money Carolina would have owed to Ruhle had we not hired him? You just make crap up once your 8-9 beers in dude?

AI Overview

When the University of Nebraska hired Matt Rhule in November 2022, they saved the Carolina Panthers approximately $29 million to $30 million in salary offset money.

Following his firing, the Panthers still owed Rhule roughly $34 million over the next four years, but his new 8-year, $72 million+ contract at Nebraska triggered an offset clause in his NFL deal.

Key Details of the Savings:
  • Original Liability: The Panthers owed Rhule approximately $34 million after firing him on October 10, 2022.
  • Offset Structure: The contract allowed the Panthers to deduct money Rhule earned at his next job, reducing their obligation.
  • Estimated Savings: Because Rhule was slated to make a significant amount ($28 million-$29 million) in the first four years at Nebraska, the Panthers' total bill for Rhule was reduced to as little as $5 million to $6 million.

Dispute Over Savings:
While the initial projection showed huge savings, Matt Rhule later filed an arbitration suit against the Panthers, arguing that they owed him roughly $5 million more in severance than they were willing to pay due to differences in how the contracts were structured.

I have them with a similar record honestly. Hope I'm wrong and this is way too early but im seeing 6 as a likely ceiling right now.

Easy year to predict, got really lucky having two qbs who can start games which should keep the wheels on. 5 wins seems a lock, 4 would be a disaster but 6 seems unlikely. The worst part could be being 5-0, ranked in the top 25 or even top 15, and then get destroyed on national t.v by Indiana. We've seen it so many times before...soft early season schedule, overhype, and then embarrassment. And for some reason Cignetti likes to talk about how much he kicked our *** the last time we played in a overhype game.

That's a very likely outcome after the 5 games and the blowout to Indiana.

I am talking about the initial contract that Trev wanted to try it was not the 8 for 72 that was decided on .
