Ive been to dozens of college football stadiums. While I love the nuances of the old stadium- it’s a dump compared to almost any other venue. No leg room, WWI era bathrooms and very long lines. Gave up our tickets this year- had since 1964. Not putting up with the ridiculous leg room and tight seats- university takes the fans for granted. Light shows are great, upped the game on the video screens- but too uncomfortable

It’s something that should have been done anywhere from 20-30 years ago. Back then they could have built a new one for less money than the renovation is now.

JFC. If you cannot stand a couple hours of first-world discomfort to cheer on kids who are risking everything to bring home a W?

Maybe you should just stand up!!

As a longtime west-stadium season-ticket holder, a few additional creature comforts would certainly be welcome. That said, I rent a seat-back for like $5.00 to protect my butt/elbow room, and spend the rest of the time screaming when the other team has the ball, and double guessing play calls on offense with the guys sitting next to us when we have the ball.

There’s a much bigger picture to look at here for the future of Memorial Stadium. We are living in 2026 not 1966, 1976, 1986, or 1996, not even 2006 or 2016! People can enjoy a game like experience from the comfort of their own home. To get people to come to Memorial Stadium for years to come you need modern amenities, updated and more numerous concessions, and most importantly seating that can comfortably accommodate the average fat *** American.

Listen, I have a similar mindset as you when it comes to spectating. Though, I also see times have changed whether I like it or not. I don’t want Memorial to be half empty within the next decade, god forbid damn near empty. Of course it would help more than anything if the product on the field was worth a damn.

You weren’t complaining about the leg room in the glory days . I seriously doubt you have had season tickets since 64 .

Honestly, would amenities really change anything for most of you?

It would not for me...basically if you are not in a sky box, the rest of the seats are basically all the same.

Slightly off topic but I got drunk at a charity thing and "won" a sky box for the whole fam for a game. It was actually kinda lame, might as well watch at home. I do like club level seating over the peon seats I usually get

Fans like you are why NU football will never get better. I get the support. But, until the stadium stops filling up, the football program will revel in mediocrity.

I know the amenities suck and there’s not a cheap/easy solution to that. But improving the amenities are not the key to keeping fans interested in attending the games. Or watching them somewhere/anywhere. The key is having something to watch that is worthy of making the time to do so. A decade of incompetence at every level has killed the golden goose. And NIL realities have killed any hope of it somehow getting better.

So not attending games is going to make the program better and will stay in mediocrity by attending.
Pathetic.

Well you aren’t much of a Husker fan and I’d bet you don’t have season tickets.

Hahaha yeah getting drunk and "winning" charity auctions always feels a lot better in the moment than it does pretty much from the next morning on.

The reality is that the product on the filed today isn't capable of playing competively against most Quality Opponents.

Couple that with a stadium that is so sorely out of date that , I no longer care to make the journey to Lincoln. So, I Gave up my season tickets as well.

No . I have not owned them since 1964. But,(I should add) I don't appreciate the attitude of the caller asking for the donataion associated with right to buy the season tickets. That alone was enough to end the realtionship.

The price hasn’t been $5 for a minute. I’ve rented 2 backs every game for at least 40 years.

It’s very disappointing to go to other stadiums at places with a lot less money and support as we have here. Almost all have much better fan experiences than ours. And then have to suffer watching bad football consistently just doesn’t cut it

The value proposition of attending games for this and future generations just isn’t there compared to the multitude of options available. It’s non sustainable

We have seen the Trev Alberts 450 million project go up in flames. Only to be told by a State Senator "go win some games first" when he was asked if the State of Nebraska would chip in. Then seeing the project scaled down to 150 million as of the Iowa disaster last fall. Having 60 top recruits in, the project is unveiled to the public prior to the Iowa game, and then Ruhle goes out and shites the bed. Then later I heard THAT project was on hold due to very low donations being made. Now it is 70 million? Is that correct?

I have heard nothing. Radio silence. And how is the reseating going? All I am hearing, and granted that is limited to about 10 other fans, is that it is not going well with many refusing to pay the required "donations" for football AND volleyball. My friend said they were told their "donation" had to be at least $12,500 in order for them to keep their seats 7 rows up ( volleyball ) and last year it was $1000........So they let their season tickets go. We know that NU took over NIL in house, 1890 is no longer active. What level of trust do you have that the staff will be able to properly handle the very few large donors we have? All this coming at a time when fan apathy is starting to seep in. Win 8-9 games this year and a lot of problems go away. I hope they can do it. I want Ruhle to win here. But now is the time to do it.

I hope the stadium scam is on hold.. it was a scam when trev tried to do it, and it's an even bigger scam now, with troy.. who was also going to screw up the seating assignments last I had heard.. they need to get rid of that guy and get a way better AD in here that has the right kind of vision for Nebraska and honors it's past by doing those same things we used to.

Although the volleyball re-seating won't be completed until June, all indications are that it is going very well with hundreds of new donors in the $12,500+ and $25,000+ tiers. I read a comment awhile back from Dannen about a possible football re-seating, but we have had the same seats at the same donation amount for several years and have received no notice that a re-seating is scheduled.

Well you aren’t much of a Husker fan and I’d bet you don’t have season tickets.

Bit of a chicken and egg situation though...

Boosters and Fans: "Not giving you more resources/support until you start winning"
Rhule (et al): "We can't win without more resources/support"

The problem: Many schools with far fewer resources and less support are winning more than Rhule.

Pretty clear weak link here. Hence the "win more and I'll support you more" mentality by a lot of us. And that mentality is only going to increase until they start winning. As it should be imo

No, $70 million is approximately Rhule’s buyout. Less than a year from his extension there already setting money aside for a potential buyout.

If you’ve ever gone to a game- you would know you are not allowed to bring in chairs. And the price hasn’t been $5 to rent for a minute. I rent 2 every game- did. I gave up my 4 tickets this year.
I've been to many games. Never paid attention to the rules of seating other than where my seat was located, hence the reason for my question. I think the only time I bltched about my seat was the Colorado game in 2008.

East stadium underneath the overhang in front of a pillar. Cold as hell and by the 2nd Q it hurt to sit. During the timeout before the kick we all thought it had to be a fake. Air was cold and dense - zero wind. Other thought was the timeout lasted forever and our pre-game had worn off. When the kick went through my ears hurt because the sound reverbarated off the overhang. Al of a sudden we were warm.

I dont know why, but I was under the impression the entire project was Trev's baby and with his departure, it was DOA.
It should have been done 25 years ago, I’ve sat there many times in the 80’s and 90’s and it’s a pain to go all the way down the ramp to piss or get a Runza and a coke.

I now have seats in the NW end zone with family members right by the men’s restroom.

The new sections were put in with less legroom than the anywhere else-- well, not counting bench seating with lard asses sitting around you.

It is pretty much in the Catholic School Instruction Manual

1. Invite people with the promise of free booze
2. Give free booze
3. Start silent auction
4. Guilt the now-drunk guests into bidding again

Hahaha

You are going to be watching a half-filled stadium as you pass away because nobody in the younger generation is going to pass up sitting at home, watching a game on a big screen to overpay for an uncomfortable experience watching a team lose to good teams and struggle against bad teams. Also, the kids don't care about you, they don't play particularly hard and if they are getting beat they just laugh it up on sideline. There is no loyalty to Nebraska outside of us being willing to overpay for bad players and be the only blueblood that gives them an opportunity to play in front of a full stadium. The only argument I could make in your favor is to go watch the games the next 5 years because that is the last time the stadium is going to be full and rocking, the stadium isn't even full every game at this point, it will be much worse by November this year and only get worse year upon year as we rely more and more on young fans to fill the seats.

Not doa. Dannen put a pause to rethink. They intended only an even more aggressive revamp than Trev. But support went south in a hurry and then came there house settlement and nil. Money went away for the project
