Why are players signing with schools from the portal off the rip, while we're wining and dining players?

How is this possible?

Why every year do we waste time going to horse races and bourbon tours or going to eat chicken fingers or whatever and other schools just sign players as soon as the portal is open?

Make this make sense? Everybody else can call a player. Send a contract. Done deal. We have to do an entire courtship. And then they still don't pick us.

Good question, we sure do wine and dine them and yes they still go somewhere else sometimes, don’t know what the numbers are but I’d say we are losing money on those visits compared to who we get. What did Ohio State show Jelly, did they even buy his dinner or did he take the first train out of Lexington just to get out. I knew when he contradicted Pope on what some of the problems we were having, he would probably be leaving.

Yeah it is kind of weird to say the least. Anytime we see the process play out of a recruit having a zoom meeting, to then a visit, and etc it seems as if they go somewhere else. I don't understand why it is so hard for us to just go out there and drop some momey on someone and get them.

I'm not a fan of Calipari,but the big time coaches goes to visit more than Zoom!

Just 2 days ago people were bitching on here "why is Louisville hosting players this coming weekend, when we are just talking to them on Zoom".
Some of you just have to be bitching about something!

Some players may actually want to meet the coach(es), may want to meet some of the players, see the facilities. While others don't care about all of that and are just looking for who writes the biggest check.

Mitch is who people need to be mad at instead of Pope I believe. Pope is too nice of a guy to survive at a school like Kentucky I’m afraid. He ran off his two best assistant coaches and kept his friends that were the ones that needed let go. I’ve got friends that I think the world of but I wouldn’t want them working with me if my job depended on it

Everywhere Mitch goes he leaves fecal matter he does it just hire turds. He lives it. I can’t believe the guy is gonna continue on UK that they’re gonna allow that crap to happen pay pay a man 1 million a year when president cries that there’s no money.

Even more I don’t know how Kentucky fans can allow Barney to continue to live in Lexington. I’m not living there right now, but if I were, and I saw Barney Mitch, which I would from time to time, just based off my connection with our programs. I don’t hold back man. I’m not afraid to give anybody a piece of my mind. Let them know what I think about them. The man must be held accountable as well as team stripped off practice complex, old boy needs to go and live out his old age. Somewhere else may be back to Oregon. I mean if he tries to play a Joe Hall where he’s like just this guy that hangs out at football in basketball games it’s gonna get real ugly.

All these players have agents who have been shopping them for weeks - Jelly has been playing pro ball for years - Kentucky might be a huge brand in College hoops but OHIO STATE is a BRAND as well. Jelly will thrive & dont be surprised if his former teammate from Auburn joins himtoo

I have no answer. Seems stupid to me because all anyone cares about is the money. The most money wins and not one player, unless he grows up a diehard fan, cares about anything else but the highest contract. Spending five or six hours with one mid level guy while others are calling, making plays and offers is something I’ll never understand. Ten years ago, yes. Not now.

Who else is coming? Zoom is the only recruit I’ve seen with a visit so far?
