"Some of the non P4 players may cost a little less" seems to be the moneyball strategy we are employing. Based on current speculation, we are going after a center from St. Mary's and PG from places like Toledo, Liberty, and Furman. No doubt these guys have proven they can play but perhaps you can get them for a little less. That said, when you're in a bidding war against other P4 teams with deep pockets then we need the decision to be about more than $$ (culture, playing time, development, etc.). Of course, we are also talking with some P4 players but my sense is those are long shots -Johnson from Colorado, for instance).
I think this can be somewhat problematic unless these guys are real difference makers. The fear is you end up win a roster full of “solid” and no real difference making talent. To take that next step Iowa will need a few of those guys. 2-3 Bennet Stirtz level players.

We really need a high quality scoring guard it's what makes mccollums system tick. You can play slow and deliberate If you have a guy that when you've gone through your set and not found a look you can kick it over to. A guy that can get a bucket consistently In the half court with shotclock running out. If you don't have that you probably need to play faster which means you need more talent elsewhere which probably not realistic to have that type of roster in just year 2 in the Big Ten. Then I'd put Center as 2nd priority.

Yes. A big is a luxury, as proven this year, but a PG or lead guard is a must get. A guy who scores and has the ball in his hands 80%+ of the time and plays 39 minutes a game is almost a necessity. Unless it’s a complete overhaul for next year’s system, which seems unlikely.

This is going to sound spoiled considering what just happened in the tournament, but what is "the next step" exactly? I'm genuinely curious. I'm hoping it isn't the case of the women's forum where anything less than only 5 star recruits and top transfers plus elite 8/final 4 runs is an abject disaster. Sorry off topic.

Being a 50% appearance rate second weekend team and finishing in the top 6 of the big ten would be my personal "next step" goals. Even then I want to be greedy on the tournament results but a 3 for 39 lifetime frame of reference makes me not want to sound like a complete homer.

(All of this sounds like crazy talk after accomplishing something that has only been done once before in my life admittedly with zero recollection due to being an infant)

Next step would be a top 4 finish in the BIG and a top 4 seed in the NCAA tourney.

Big man Reibe from uconn in portal plus Minnesale from St Thomas a stud SG. Hmmmm..
I wonder if that means Mckeever is headed to UCONN I know they were also pursuing. If Reibe is cheaper I'd be open to him too. Like Mckeever's passing and rebounding but he lacks explosiveness.

Zoom? Has anyone committed through Zoom?

I am willing to believe that commitments through Zoom (or similar applications) has happened tens of thousands of times over the last decade.

Its ok if you do not believe reality. It is common around here.
