You'll always be a LEGEND for knocking down the shot that sent us to the Sweet 16.
Good luck Folgers, its the day and age we live in now. I heard at least 10 teams were blowing up his agents phone during the tournament throwing out wild numbers in the 2-3 mil range. You gave us Hawk fans quite the ride along with this team, amazing run!

100 percent! Even in the FL post game presser Ben was still ribbing him about his shot and play. It's a wild card athlete that simply isn't sustainable from day to day and game to game.He drove Ben nuts because Ben never knew what version of Alvaro he was gonna get in a game.

I promise I won't click "show ignored posts" this time. Apologies.Ok, everyone needs to promise to NOT get into a back & forth with Eyes in this thread!![]()
One of those players that only shows up when the lights are on them.........except against a semi-pro paid Illinois team. Can't blame him. He sold himself in the tourney. He only started one game here, but that performance should get him starter money somewhere decent.
That's why I never tried.....Gone before I could get the spelling of his last name right.

Agreed! This thread is stirring up some amazing memories again, well done.
Will never forget the corner 3. Will never forget the slam dunk clincher.Bummer, but I get it. He's simply too inconsistent to have BMac's full trust, but he is talented enough to be a key piece in another system. Probably a good move for him. He will ALWAYS be a Hawk.
He could have come back and maybe been more consistent and been a great player next year, but that’s not a guarantee.
Lot of wings on the team that do similar things. I think this frees up some NIL that could be utilized elsewhere. He also gets to go somewhere with a bigger role. Probably a win/win here.

Legend.
This is all ridiculously stupid. So now he will be on his third school in 3 years. Those players are the worst. God what a s h i t show.
That's why I almost always just called him Alvaro . . .Gone before I could get the spelling of his last name right.
That's a shame. I'm not shocked, but I am disappointed. I thought Alvaro might be one of those rare guys who would understand his situation, do the work in the off season, and fight for a starting job at a place where he knows his teammates, knows his coaches, and is treated like an adult. Not to mention a place where he made himself a legend with brilliant clutch performances against Florida and Nebraska to help send Iowa where it hadn't been for decades.
Did Ben challenge him to do the work and Alvaro decided it would be easier to go somewhere else? Did Ben tell him his NIL would be cut, and Alvaro wanted/needed to go for the money?
I have no idea. But again, even when Iowa has nice things, like an Elite Eight berth for the first time since 1987, it's overshadowed by things like this.
I wish the young man the best wherever he ends up. But again, it's a shame to see him go.
It's a bit different because in the past I would have been upset and definitely a bit bummed about this news. With Ben and our newfound support of basketball it just opens up more opportunities in the portal. Excited for next year and the years to come! This thread is stirring up some amazing memories again, well done.
That's why I almost always just called him Alvaro . . .
They just need two departments for this to be possible, correct?Alvaro is majoring in interdepartmental studies. I hope he can find a new school that lines up with his academic pursuits!
