They have Hines at #33 and Budd at #48.
EvanMiya has Hines at #15 and Budd at #58.
The Athletic only has a Top 30 but have Hines at #22.

These guys are consensus big-time players.

Monumental failure to not bring at least 1 of them back to build around. Its better to pay more for your own established players who you know can play in the Big East and excel in Sha's system.

Providence is adding serious talent. Already have 2 big-time players.

Miles Byrd a 6'6" G/F, rated as the top non-Big defensive player in the country and ranked #14 by ESPN and Evan Miya.

They also signed 6'8" G Dinka Pate out of the G-League Westchester Knicks. He was a top 30 recruit in Class of 25'.

Seems like the G-league is going to not exist in a few years if this keeps up. If salaries are similar wouldn’t you rather play in a packed gym with legit fans and on ESPN/CBS/Fox rather than taking a bus to nowhere playing in front of day care camps on ESPN 8
I don’t think the salaries are similar. College is far more lucrative for a good player.

So far every G league player has been complete a*s in college, so I'm not sure I'd be overly confident about this if I'm Providence. He does look good paper though.

The reason Pate may be eligible, as I understand it, is that he never signed a professional contract with a NBA team. No 10 day or two-way. Although I thought G-League affiliates are the equivalent of minor league baseball affiliates, so maybe I’m not appreciating the distinction.

Still surprised though we don’t have lots of posts and threads calling the Providence coach out by name and whoever their boosters are for this type of maneuver.

The Baylor kid and Bediako are the only two I can think of, and I thought Bediako was solid when he played. But could be misremembering.

Pate seems good on paper for sure and Byrd is a great get for Providence with his defensive ability and experience.

Kid from BYU Ahmed. Puff Johnson. Everyone got up in arms and they all suck. I guess Bediako was serviceable, but that is about as generous as I can be there.

Byrd I like a lot.
