<Putting my moderator hat on here>Well, 3397Char, some of our posters did not say this when DK left although she had gotten her degree. Some posters were not sympathy at all if my memory serves me correct. Some of the comments were just down right hateful. I an hoping that it was not a color thing back then.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think now that players participate in revenue sharing, all NIL deals must be bonafide agreements with legitimate businesses/companies for their promotional services (which has to be vetted by the clearing house). I think it was another poster, maybe the insightful 3379char, that detailed this is in another post.Maybe the WBB can start some type of Go Fund or something similar to that. I do not know the rules for doing this, but it is clear that they must find a way to get more money for NIL.
To my knowledge, it is not a violation for a player's agent to contact schools to determine interest and hone in on price. I imagine that is how the vast majority of "tampering" occurs. You can pretty much guarantee there was "legal" tampering going on. The way the portal works now is a bunch of crap, where agents can be contacted by "unofficial" representatives of various schools long before a player is officially in the portal. The NCAA will never do anything to clean that up.
Revenue and expenses for every sport:What is the budget for Women’s basketball?

Yes. We thought they may be out of money after landing A-A Olivia Miles, Clara Silva and Taliyah Parker. Nope.Unsurprising. Going where the money is. I hated to see her go. Didn't we get outbid for Suarez from Cal by them last year?
And right now that money is booming. It's that Dallas-Fort Worth money.![]()
Thanks for this info, big help!!Revenue and expenses for every sport:

If you are asking what our "rev Share" budget is to play players, that is $250K. That will not change until WBB creates more revenue.
If you are asking what our NIL budget is for boosters to pay players through businesses on top of rev share, nobody here knows that.
It's that Dallas-Fort Worth money.![]()
With those billionaires in the oil business in TX and gas and oil prices now. Ching Ching! And right now that money is booming.![]()
Completely disagreeI would like to see some of these teams cut. Could easily net 4 to 5M by doing so. Fencing is just one example. Rowing is another. Wrestling another. I could go on.
How many of those would you have to cut to make up the $4 million lost by the women’s basketball program? Twice as much as the next largest loss of $2 million by the baseball program. I want women’s basketball to be competitive but it is just not feasible to lose that much money year after year. You could argue that any additional revenue should be used to narrow the loss not to increase spending. The athletic department used to be self sustaining but the University recently had to provide the athletic department $14 million to make up a shortfall. That cannot happen on a regular basis in my opinion. I am hoping something can be done to bring some sanity back to college sports.I would like to see some of these teams cut. This is the reason why we need someone to tell CB to go and talk with the new AD, Steve about finding ways to help give her program more money so that stuff like this will not happen.
The big schools in Texas like Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and I guess now TCU never seem to run out of money. Everything is bigger in Texas including NIL money.Yes. We thought they may be out of money after landing A-A Olivia Miles, Clara Silva and Taliyah Parker. Nope.
This year they snagged Grant (~#27 in portal by Creme, ~#28 by CBS, #14 by The Athletic, #11 by USA Today) after landing Somfai (#18 in portal by Creme, #21 by CBS, #17 by USA Today, UR by The Athletic). I bet they are not done
I think unfortunately for UNC and I see this is a St. Louis Cardinal fan, the economics of college athletics have changed and we are at best a mid market or small market team at least as long as we are in the ACC.How many of those would you have to cut to make up the $4 million lost by the women’s basketball program? And TCU adds All-Big 12 Honorable Mention Jadyn Wooten of OK State today. She is top 25 also in most of the portal rankings. So that is now 3 consensus top 25 portal players to TCU already.Yes. We thought they may be out of money after landing A-A Olivia Miles, Clara Silva and Taliyah Parker. Nope.
