Like I said, you would believe anything that makes UK, or Pope look bad, but you wont even consider believing anything that might make Pope/UK look good.
Your agenda is owning you.
I’ve defended pope several times? All I’ve said is I don’t believe Colin chandler is asking schools for 3.2 million dollars? WTH is your problem?

And you said you don't believe the 4 million dollar offer Moreno got.
Why would you? If you believed those things, you would have to admit that maybe Pope did something right. Can't have that though, right?

I haven’t said a word about Moreno. So you’re talking **** to the wrong person. Do you have me confused with someone else or are you lying just to start an argument with me?

He was also the only white American player of any significance as well.

I wouldn’t just dismiss the possible racism of the post with the out of the Mormon connection personally.
I absolutely think Derrick was playing the race card. He did it in his first post as well with his little lines about people in “his community” not rocking with UK and BBN not supporting players if they don’t “fit in.” He’s a race baiting POS.

Kam was my most wanted to return. He had the potential to be the best or one of the best 3 and D wings in the country.

Wanted one of Moreno and Garrison back and preferred Malachi. Malachi wants to be here more than he wants the pay day. And he has worlds of potential and is coming back on discount at a position that’s demanding top dollar right now. Moreno has the potential to be one of the best/most important pieces in the country when you take everything into account. We may be able to do better at other positions now because he essentially took a pay cut to stay. If we have a great season and it all turns around Malachi will be a big part of that.

Wanted Hawhtorne back. Top 50 recruit, redshirted and returned. Excited to see whars hes got.

Then there were guys I could take or leave. Dioubate, Jelavich, Chandler were in that category. Think we can do better, much better than Chandler. He regressed so much at the tail end of the season.

Good luck to him if he does indeed leave.
A dude that averaged 6 pts was your most wanted return and is the best 3 and D guy in the country? Do you even watch other teams? Good lord. You just can’t make this stuff up.

Why would the UKAA or someone involved there release information on what they claim Chandler asked for? I mean it was clearly done to trash the kid for leaving. I'm starting to understand why less and less players want to play for this program.

Help me understand the money situation. Cats will have less to spend this year but ostensibly have offered Stokes a high number. With almost no roster is the plan to pay handsomely for Stokes and another elite talent and then fill in “bargains” around them?

your initial assumption is wrong. the wont have less money to spend. it will be around the same amount. its who it is spent on that is going to change. also....what people are missing. whatever the market rate was last year, its basically doubled this year. if you arent going to spend a minimum of 15M to build out a roster, you will largely have below average players.

tennessee is willing to spend 6M on juke harris. the elite level studs everyone wants. is 5M a pop easy. you want 2, thats 10-12M, now you have 8 other players, likely 2 or 3 starters in some cases.

Insanity. Recruiting has never been easier…or more futile. Gotta have contracts and a salary cap.

“He is currently projected to go in the mid-lottery on NBADraft.net”

last summer.

Now i’m not saying he IS a lotto pick. All i said was “potential to be” a top 3 and D guy in the country. With his measurable and the flashes he’s shown thats not really a reach.

Ofcourse, this relies on our staff to actually develop guys. I’m honestly not that hopeful. But if Pope has the type or revelation that allows him to keep his job, it will start with actually being able to close on the type of players you win with in college basketball, and learning how to develop those guys.

Under a good coach in a good program Williams would be one of those guys. He has the tools.
That dude will never sniff the first round, much less a lottery pick

Chandler is an average player.
If his wife is in Utah, can't blame him for leaving
The #1 reason he should have stayed in Utah.
To play at UK you have to be married to the game.
Reed is in his 2nd year in the NBA and is not married.
Collin and his wife must not really be serious about playing in the NBA.
Seems like both want to go back to the Morman bubble that is Utah.
Hopefully this is the last time we have a Morman kid on the roster.

Said this months ago. I thought Chandler would be lookin to get out. His body language this year was bad, didn’t look happy to me a lot of the time. I figured BYU would call, or someone. And he’s going to be damn good under the right coach who PLAYS THROUGH HIM and doesn’t let ball hogs keep the ball from him when he’s hot. This one is going to sting down the road when he’s lighting up. I’m sorry if I was Collin I wouldn’t want to play for pope either. He managed him awful. He was turning into one of the best shooters in the conference and Mark didn’t do anything when some of these guys totally ignored him.

Wonder where the guys are who laughed and thought it was funny when I said that.

If Pope can’t maintain Chandler, this is gonna be bad.
Lol through him? The dude can't get a shot unless someone creates it for him. I swear I don't think many of the people on this board have a clue about what a good player looks like.
Here are his facts...
Good shooter but very streaky. Plays hard at all times. Sneaky good passer

Can't guard one on one defense against high level guards.
Can't handle a basketball when there's a man within 5 ft of him. Passes as soon as he touches it
Can't beat his man off the dribble and get to the basket.
So how is he gonna be good with an offense running through him

Sure let’s just overpay players because they were already on the team
Nowhere in my post did I say that. Nice try though.

CC made a business decision, as did UK. I’m good with that. Just seemed the two families shared a strong bond (CC committed to Pope and BYU before his mission and moved that commitment with MP when he returned). Oh well!

Chandler couldn’t get those numbers if he were to be taken in the draft, but you want to “report” that a dude who averaged less than 10 on a sheety UK squad is demanding $3.2 to return? GTFOH…

it’s mid April, start of the unsubstantiated rumor season🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes that guy who played here for two years, gave it his all, became one of the best shooters in the country, and was mostly liked by the fanbase until last night?
F*ck him.
Everyone else in and around the program must go under the bus to protect Pope!!

Seriously how do people not see what is happening?
Cry me a river. He left because his wife was already homesick and this was the breaking point . Odds are that he had to talk her into coming in the first place. Anyone trashing him can’t be taken serious about anything. Saul Smith’s daddy needs to trashed for giving his son the keys, however.

Dude, no one likes it when someone who is a good shooter for sure, thinks they are a top 5 portal guy. He is not worth $2 mil let alone $3 mil. It is not about anyone protecting Pope. I'd say that has not been happening...you read much? 😂

These threads fuss and complain about stuff that is rumored. We don’t know what happens behind the scenes. Here there was this huge thread about the dumb arse comment Derrick Johnson made about Pope and Collin. The Pope bashers gobbled up Johnson’s idiocy. I think Mark has good relationships with a lot of his players, including Collin. I suspect this was a business decision that both sides respect and I would assume their friendship remains the same. That is true for most of the player in the portal, I would think. Johnson seems to confuse JJ’s frustrations about play and JJ’s misunderstanding about basketball decisions with relationship.

I give young people more credit than that. They don’t expect all people to be just like them anymore than old people expect young people to conform. This is about basketball and who knows more about basketball. Complain about Pope all you want, he knows worlds more about basketball ball than any of the Johnsons. Players go to coaches to be coached. They are smart enough to get past personality and age differences.

No, I don't have you confused with anybody and you did talk about Moreno (see below). You, of course, don't believe he was offered 4 million dollars and we also know you don't believe the 3.2 million Chandler asked for.
I haven’t seen where anyone has but I don’t believe this story. No one’s going to pay him that much
But if we flipped these and UK overpaid for both these players, I bet you would have zero issues believing them.

I wish the people that believe this 3.2 million dollar story would really sit down and think about it, considering what great players got paid last season. No way chandler asked for that kind of money and expects that kind of payday.
I motion we promote johnrambo82 to the official NIL offer guidance councelor of the board. He can tell us what we should and shouldn’t believe.
