In the short amount of time he played he was one of the best defenders and shooters in the team and is 6’8 with a 7ft wing span. Moves more like a wing than a big. But has the length to be disruptive both on the perimeter and in the lane on defense.

I don’t get the laughing. I’m not exactly on an island here. He was a projected lottery pick at one point.

They're spinning this because they still believe Pope has some genius move up his sleeve, instead of calling it what it is: a retention disaster. Chandler was Pope's mormon apprentice. It doesn't get any worse than this.
yeah there’s no positive spin to this.
Nobody actually thinks we’re gonna upgrade from Collin.
Rats continue to abandon ship. Lame duck go quack
This is painful to watch

I am actually stunned by this one.

All about the M & Ms ... Chandler sees them recruiting over him and doesn't like it.
It may end up only Moreno & Noah stay ... the 2 KY kids, if Kam Williams changes his mind.

Pope's got this weirdo-level optimism about him, even when the roof is caving in. It's the strangest thing I've ever seen from a Kentucky head coach.
As much as I do not think Pope is the guy, I do respect how much he loves this University and this program. He wants so bad to be the guy that brings championships to the fans. Sure hope he does, while proving me wrong in the process. I’d gladly eat crow!

Clear room for Stokes and other studs. If he stayed and was one of our best players we were in serious trouble. Hopefully it's because he's being recruited over and not a situation where Pope wanted him and he still entered the portal.
My concern is that he's gone, but he was going to be one of our best players. We're cooked.

Rafters posters when reporters say Pope paid way too much for mid players:

I knew it. Mark Pope sucks.

Rafters when reporters say Pope refused to overpay: “There’s no way it’s true. Reporters don’t actually know anything. The real reason he left is cuz Mark Pope sucks!”

Random thought, but wonder if they ratchet up their interest in a guy like Devin Vanterpool now? Could easily move our CC offer to him. Lose a little shooting, gain a lot elsewhere. His interest in UK returning CC/Kam/Stokes potential/etc would’ve been questionable. Now that CC is gone, I could see it being much more attractive.

A defensive all around 2 could complement an offensive PG more than CC would’ve.

I wish the people that believe this 3.2 million dollar story would really sit down and think about it, considering what great players got paid last season. No way chandler asked for that kind of money and expects that kind of payday.
If you really want to leave then just ask for something insane and see what they say. I’ve actually done that before.

Chandler is an average player.
If his wife is in Utah, can't blame him for leaving
You can’t blame him for leaving friggin KENTUCKY bc his wife wants to be in Utah? Tell your wife you’re at the Mecca, damn.
He wants to go to the NBA right? Is he gonna refuse to play if he isn’t drafted by the Jazz??

Show me at what point he was a projected lottery pick

“He is currently projected to go in the mid-lottery on NBADraft.net”

last summer.

Now i’m not saying he IS a lotto pick. All i said was “potential to be” a top 3 and D guy in the country. With his measurable and the flashes he’s shown thats not really a reach.

Ofcourse, this relies on our staff to actually develop guys. I’m honestly not that hopeful. But if Pope has the type or revelation that allows him to keep his job, it will start with actually being able to close on the type of players you win with in college basketball, and learning how to develop those guys.

Under a good coach in a good program Williams would be one of those guys. He has the tools.

I haven’t seen where anyone has but I don’t believe this story. No one’s going to pay him that much
Came from reputable sources, right? Aaron Torres, right?
Why can't it be true?
Seems like we only believe the things that are negative.

Moreno came back because Kentucky is home. Believe Collin is leaving to go home to Utah with his wife who is also from Utah, so II think these are similar situations.

Don’t think anyone knows the actual dollars that were offered but I believe, maybe naïvely, that money was not the biggest factor for the Chandlers.

Good young, mature young man. Hate to see him leave as I think he will make a big jump between Year 2 and year 3 by working on his weaknesses. Just a rising Junior and only 2 years removed from a 2–year mission trip. Wish him the best in his next 2 years!

Never was a kentucky caliber sg
Agreed. Guards need to dribble with both hands.
Pope can’t even hold on to the Utah Mormon guys. Geez…

Bad look, but there is more talent than CC on the boards. Just have to secure it (whiffing needs to end),
No, disagree. It shows Pope might have balls yet and a willingness to change. Why overpay for a guy just bc he shares your religious views or there's a long standing connection. Like Kenny Roger's said, "you gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em."

The market for guards who can't dribble isn't 3 mil. Time to upgrade.

Do you guys really believe Pope should have paid him 3 million?
As much as I don’t think he’s worth $3m, I think Pope should have. We keep being listed with dudes who can’t shoot and Pope has proven that he can’t recruit for **** anyway. The chances that he actually replaces Collin with someone better are low.

Not to mention we needed 2-3 high level guards who can also shoot in addition to Chandler. There’s next to no chance Pope comes close to doing that and replacing Chandler with someone as good or better.

Right, because it's a positive thing, but if Pilgrim said Pope paid Moreno 4 million, we would believe it without question.
Lol no I wouldn’t.
Not saying it’s impossible but it IS a lot of scratch. I’m glad he’s staying but these NIL figures have really exploded lately.
just seems like BS from pilgrim to prop up Moreno

What are you talking about? I don’t believe chandler is asking for 3.2 million
Right, makes sense, why would you believe anything that might make UK look good?

But if they said Pope paid Chandler 3.2 million, you would believe the sh*t out of it.

You’re making no sense. No, I wouldn’t believe pope would pay chandler 3.2 million either because that makes absolutely zero sense like your posts are. I’ve seen what other players made and that’s not logical at all.

Like I said, you would believe anything that makes UK, or Pope look bad, but you wont even consider believing anything that might make Pope/UK look good.
Your agenda is owning you.
