Said this months ago. I thought Chandler would be lookin to get out. His body language this year was bad, didn’t look happy to me a lot of the time. I figured BYU would call, or someone. And he’s going to be damn good under the right coach who PLAYS THROUGH HIM and doesn’t let ball hogs keep the ball from him when he’s hot. This one is going to sting down the road when he’s lighting up. I’m sorry if I was Collin I wouldn’t want to play for pope either. He managed him awful. He was turning into one of the best shooters in the conference and Mark didn’t do anything when some of these guys totally ignored him.

Wonder where the guys are who laughed and thought it was funny when I said that.

If Pope can’t maintain Chandler, this is gonna be bad.
He's never gonna be a complete player until he learns to not look down at the ball while he drives into traffic & he learns to shoot the ball coming off top of the key curl screens. Right now he's just catch & shoot imo. I hate it that he's leaving but it is what it is.

Tough loss, but we can work around it. Honestly, didn't see CC having a starting role next year between Kam and the SG/CGs we're after. Loved the kid, but if he finishes his career elsewhere, so be it. Go be great, Chandler!

And work on that handle and driving, for the love of God.
chandler was soo under talented against iowa st told me if he was a starter next yr for UK we were not gonna be good

I don’t believe he asked for that kind of money. I think that’s an excuse for losing him. I’m worried it’s going to be like last year and they’re about to strike out on most of the top guys.
If BYU was offering him big bucks, I could see it. Plus, the whole "wife wants to move back to/stay in Utah" narrative seems to be a recurring theme with these LDS guys.

Best of luck to them.

Why are we on a budget? I thought we were trying to win!

Tell Barney to cough up some of his cigar-lightin' money.
“Barney” has nothing to do with our budget. The only part of it controlled by the administration is the rev share. Boosters aren’t paying $22M again and I don’t blame them. Unless you’re willing to pay $22M, we have a smaller budget coz I don’t have that much money and probably won’t make that in my lifetime. Also, why do you always at me with questions that have nothing to do with me? I don’t control the budget. I’m the same level of low level internet user forum posting doofus as anyone else.

If he asked for THAT much money.. does he think hes gonna get that elsewhere? Hes not a starting caliber player on ANY team that aspires to win a title.. and I dont think even a place like BYU wants to pay him $2-3mil/year

Very odd. So he will hit the transfer portal and get like half of what he asked for here. Is that what he wants? Pretty sure we could have given him FMV.. but oh well.

He apparently has to take the biggest check possible cause sounds like the wifey ain’t gonna let him get paid to play overseas.

Really hate to see that, thought he could be a big piece for the team next year, look how much he improved from year one to year two, after not playing for 2 years, expected he could have made another huge jump with another off season, people on here seem to think players can't improve from year to year and then they get mad because we don't have players for multiple seasons, just doesn't make any sense.

Yeah. A kid like Chandler you offer what you think is his value. If somebody is gonna pay huge money for the ltevel of production he’s shown, let him walk.
I doubt what he was asking for was serious. (Assuming it's true).. I think he probably planned.on going to be with his wife all along. He just threw out a crazy number, thinking they wouldn't bite, but if they did it's payday. Guarantee his next school will pay him nowhere close to that number.

But this better be Pope’s wake-up call. I agree Chandler couldn’t be paid that much but Chandler quickly navigated away from “Ridin with Pope” to Take the money and run.

Pope better land some dudes quickly.

Well the thing is, he aint getting that money elsewhere. Its not like CC asked for a fair going rate and we said no.. he pulled a Kirk Cousins and wanted an absurd amount of money. Problem for CC is, hes not an NFL QB.

We cant just give all these players these absurd asking prices. And even if BYU were to give him $3mil.. thats $2.5million too much. There is no way they will get their ROI on him. And maybe a school like BYU doesnt care... but thats gonna be a costly $25mil roster just for a chance to get a Final4..

History would suggest that’s a reasonable position to have and believe. Pope is going to make the BCG hire look like a minor mistake.

I’m going by KSR and Sources Say. They said the last two you mentioned have not officially said one way or another. Hawthorne might depend on his role and who UK recruits in the portal at his position
I thought Hawthorne made it official early like the first one?

This is one guy who I thought would be the canary in the coal mine for CMP’s next season. If he stayed I figured maybe there was a chance he’d turn it around. If he left I fear that even CMP’s most devoted player doesn’t believe he’ll make it work next year. I guess we’ll find out who he replaces him with but the grass isn’t always greener as they say.

Clears more money to grab a guy that can shoot, defend and dribble.
Plenty of dudes in the portal that can do what Chandler did for us.
And just because he's a white mormon, doesn't mean he's going to be the next Saunders.
So the guy who scouted and brought in one of many players who can't seem to dribble or play defense isn't going to bring in another one of the same talent?
