Kind of agree. Howard is a fantastic athlete but played low level high school ball and just seemed very unsure of himself this year. I thought already having a year under his system from Drake he would have been more ready this year but was poor from 3 and just didn’t improve much. Now he obviously has 2 years to go but we need more.
I do agree. Seemed he faded as the year progressed.

A career 29.4% 3P shooter (28.1% this year) and 58.5% FT shooter (69.4 this year) is not winning basketball for a 2/3. Especially for a guy that averaged 18 minutes a game.

There’s a reason he played less than his average during Iowas NCAA tournament run (except for Illinois) and it’s because even if he’s playing well he’s not a needle mover.

I hate to agree, but I do. I like Howard's motor, but he's too small to play inside, and he's not been a great shooter, so I'm not sure from where on the floor he will be able to score consistently, unless he improves his shooting a fair amount.

I generally agree, but there have been games when Howard helped keep us in games when things weren't going well. He is a good role player / depth piece but I don't see him as a starter in the B1G.

I know after many years of Franball it’s tough to remember that there’s a thing called defense. Howard will never be a starter, but he’s a pretty damn solid bench player. Not every player needs to score a bunch of points

What about Anton Bonke from Charlotte? My biggest concern with McKeever is he seems to struggle scoring against the best comptition. Good rebounder but blocks doesn't jump off the page.

Purdue and UConn are in the mix for McKeever also.

Bonke looks like he’d be a good option too. I have to believe the staff are looking at him as well.

According to this article there is A LOT of competition for McKeever. Add Michigan to the list of programs targeting him. I would think Purdue, UConn, Michigan would have deep pockets but they also have more depth than us so perhaps we can compete based on him being a clear starter at Iowa. He has two years remaining.

Saw a podcast today that Iowa has set their sites on McKeever. Said Purdue is going after him also. Sounds like the staff is working hard to get him. Sounds like Michigan is pulling out all the stops for the Kansas big.

It’s interesting more names keep getting thrown out at guard. Stirtz is going to be very hard to replace. Must not be hitting on Finley or Isaiah? Need a high flying guard. We absolutely cannot get beat out by some of the other programs.

I personally don't think iowa was ever really recruiting Finley hard and Isaiah wants to stay on the west coast reportedly.

If it’s accurate that Iowa has 10-12 million to spend, I don’t think it’s necessarily a bargain pg. I think/hope that Iowa can go get a big time center and pg and one more piece at a lower cost (shooter?).
That 10-12 million also has to retain your current roster.

Well then pony up. Get a good lawyer and see if we can get Lebron's four years of eligibility back.

Ben has been quoted that players that only care about the money, is not a good fit for him. Aren't they all to a degree?

I would guess that the school and the kids agent would have to have a meeting of the minds regarding compensation before a visit takes place. If the visit goes well, then the final contract is finalized. Some of the non P4 players may cost a little less.

"Some of the non P4 players may cost a little less" seems to be the moneyball strategy we are employing. Based on current speculation, we are going after a center from St. Mary's and PG from places like Toledo, Liberty, and Furman. No doubt these guys have proven they can play but perhaps you can get them for a little less. That said, when you're in a bidding war against other P4 teams with deep pockets then we need the decision to be about more than $$ (culture, playing time, development, etc.). Of course, we are also talking with some P4 players but my sense is those are long shots -Johnson from Colorado, for instance).
