MC QB

Here's one. Taylor openly said he transfered to a Nebraska HS to help recruit and for NIL opportunities.

You also think the QB from Plainfield East just up and decided to transfer to MC without being contacted by Lynch? There's also been a number of private to private school transfers, you think all those were based on coaches pitching them on their potential?

It's not remotely the same landscape that it was 10-20 years ago, It's monkey see, monkey do and kids see all the college players doing it for more money so HS kids are doing the same and the IHSA, much like the NCAA, appear to be turning a blind eye.
Taylor is the exception (an odd one at that) and certainly not the rule.

Everything is your opinion and no fact.

I know we've discussed this but I'm 110% sure that Coach Lynch did not reach out to a QB from Plainfield with average at best numbers and encourage him to transfer to MC because they needed a QB when he has 3 capable ones in the building already. Did his family reach out to MC and Coach Lynch said he is welcome to come and compete? Thats what happened.

If he was going to look for a QB it wouldn't be for a QB with average stats from a mid level program and think that he could jump 3 other QBs and be the starter in one of the States toughest conference with probably the toughest schedule in the state. You can think what you want but you would be wrong if you think he was scouted out by Lynch....it was the other way around.

If I'm wrong then so be it, that's means he had a great off season, learned the offense and beat out the others in summer workouts but I think his chances are slim.
I think there are two other Carmelite schools in Illinois that would have made much more sense for such a transfer, both of them with QB needs for the upcoming fall. And one of them is much closer to Plainfield.

COM got the QB from Warren. And I read while not a QB JCA got a real good football player and wrestler from Johnsburg

If you believe that coaches never initiate contact with transfers then I have some ocean front property in Morris to sell you.
Again, just general/no fact comments from you.

Since you are in the know on the new world of NIL and transfer portal happenings - how is the Morris staff handling the portal and doing the most to help their kids with NIL? They convincing kids to transfer to Morris to help position them “to get the bag” of NIL money?

Lynch really knows how to develop talent to fit his system. There are plenty of guys on the roster who came in with zero stars as freshmen and now they’re sitting at four stars. That doesn’t happen by accident. He’s doing a great job — definitely an awesome coach.
This is a joke right? Of course they come in with no stars. On 247 sports there are zero kids rated for the class of 2029.

Honestly, that's a great question and I would love to know the answer.

Over the last 5ish years the amount of kids transferring, no matter what type of school it is, is insane, and if you think coaches aren't making contact then I wish I could be as naive as you. I'm not implying they're doing anything against the rules because I have no clue what is even allowed these days or if the IHSA just no longer cares.

Are schools utilizing legal NIL channels and if so, how? Are they giving kids money to transfer? Are they paying them NIL money in the form of rent for an apartment in the school district for public schools? I've been surprised that NIL in high school hasn't been a bigger topic, or maybe it's still just all hush hush.

Two things can be true at the same time.
Sure, not saying Lynch doesn't do any development. But its pretty disingenuous to claim he is taking "zero stars as freshmen" and his development is what is turning them into 4 stars as if these 4 star kids weren't incredibly talented as freshmen.

If you don’t know what your own HS is doing, why are you assuming you know what others are doing?

If coaches are proactively making contact, that is a violation to IHSA rules.

Haven't lived in Morris for years, my friend.

Is it? Honest question, what are the transfer rules these days? We've never seen this many kids transferring so have the rules changed to make it easier? Is the IHSA turning a blind eye? With NIL being legal I don't see how coaches and schools aren't reaching out to kids.

Because it's illegal and the IHSA has the same transfer rules as they always have.

IMO, parents are different nowadays and think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. That's why there is so much transferring. "My son would be getting more offers if he was at X school".

This and public schools aren't what they used to be (I've given several examples of how districts have changed over the past 10 years).

No doubt parents have something to do with it but so do kids and coaches...It is all tied together.

Agreed.

I think coaches are a distant third.
I do not have a strong opinion on ranking them but I wouldn't assume coaches are a distant 3rd. I'd start that they are all playing an equal part. You have assistant coaches that run training programs and poof all of a sudden a few of those kids transfer to the school he coaches at.

Where does this happen at? Not saying it doesn't but I haven't heard any rumblings of this anywhere. Quick google search and I don't see any Chicagoland QB trainers who are coaching IHSA football.
