I personally would have preferred him over Powers - think he’ll be the better of the 2 at shooting and his D improved more than Powers over the course of the season. Oh well. I didn’t expect to keep both of them as well likely bring in a wing. Preferably one with length who plays D and and can handle the ball.

I actually am a little I think he is going to turn out to be a very good 3 point specialist somewhere
He can shoot, unfortunately we don’t really know how to utilize and maximize the abilities of a guy who just needs to sit in the corner and wait to be set up for an open three. Jake Davis for Illinois this year is an example of that type of player, Zrno could easily be that type of guy who can knock down one or two threes off the bench and on a hot night maybe knocks down three or four. Requires an offense that emphasizes this as part of its philosophy.

That would require an offensive philosophy that we have not seen this coaching staff implement.

He was very limited. For all the talk about how European players are fundamentally sound, he did not live up to that stereotype. He couldn't dribble and might have been the worst passer on the team. Need to get players who are not limited. Players that can, shoot, pass, and dribble

Valid points about his limited skills. He could shoot, had good form but that was about it. I don’t see this as a big loss.

Unfortunately, at the end of the day, decisions have to be about price relative to the market. You say “he can shoot” and that’s what he brings to the table, but at the end of the day Tariq, J Mike and Buchanan all shot a higher percentage from the perimeter than him. The next thing one might turn to is his better height / length, but all 3 of them grabbed more rebounds per minute played than him too. And lastly, all 3 of the guys above are MUCH better ball handlers than him and better passers (see assists per minute played).

His D also is poor, though it did get better over the course of the season. It’s true that he might have potential to become a better 3 point shooter if used differently, but that’s currently an IF and would have to be priced that way. When you think about the market, you have to feel good about being able to turn to the mid major level and find a player looking to make the jump up with similar potential. He’s not a guy who will be difficult for RU to replace within its budget.

"Good" is relative. On this team, he was one of the best.

One of the “best” at what, exactly?

There were several guards on the roster who were more efficient from three. Those guards handle the ball better than him and pass better than him. Zrno is catch and shoot primarily because he can’t handle the rock.

Despite being shorter than him, the smaller grabbed more rebounds per minute than him. They also scored more per minute played and were significantly more efficient. And got to the line way more.

He wasn’t better at D than anyone other than Powers. But Powers, in fairness, is much more athletic so he probably has more potential to dramatically improve over time if he buys in on D (he didn’t this year - out of everyone, he struggled the most with learning the schemes for sure.) Zrno did better with that but his lack of speed limits him in the longer term.

So, what was he one of the “best” at?
