Still trying to figure out the agent angle.
Agents are allowed to work for players in setting up their NIL contracts. But it is against the rules for agent to negotiate payment for play.
There is no way the NCAA can truly police all the movement.

I never imagined UK would be so bad off that we are upset if a guy like chandler portaled. He can throw down some nasty dunks against small schools we beat by 30. He can't dribble the fkn basketball against real competition. He's like the kid that walks on his tippy toes.

Next season is going to be the worst season in Kentucky basketball history and I'm going to dog them the whole time. I'm going to laugh and make fun of them as long as we allow this nonsense to happen. What's really going on at UK?

Is the president trying to join the ACC? That's where we are heading. Loser school. National punchline.

In the era where you can pay players and we had twice as much money but half the talent. Now we are stressing if utah tip toes will come back? Year three coming up baby.
Chandler truly is a shooting guard bc he can only catch and shoot. Dude can't dribble with his left hand from baseline to baseline let alone create off the bounce.

If the rumors of $22,000,000 last year are correct ... and rumors of significantly less available for this year's roster ... it may well be that the players were all asked to take pay cuts as part of a re-budgeting process. If so, my guess is they are not satisfied with that idea and are looking elsewhere.
Pope will need all the money he can muster to sign enough players to come in here and make a SIGNIFICANT impact and difference !!
If our payroll is out there for public consumption, every other teams payroll should be as well.
Maybe the $22M is accurate and maybe it's not.
I'd like to see all of em.

I would like to see chandler come back. The guy hustles and gives šŸ’Æ every minute he's on the floor. Id like to see him be our 6th man. I’d like to see an upgrade at point guard, Stokes to replace Oweh and a solid stretch 4 that can shoot the ball. I want to see what I seen in popes first season but with a little more talent. I wouldn’t mind if Aberdeen came back to play SG as long as he’s not having to play PG.

Imagine how these coaches feel trying to beg their own players to stay and having to worry which ones are going to jump in the portal unexpectedly (because you know this happens a lot too).
It has got to be a headache. It's why so many legends have retired in college bball and football.

You spend years building relationships and recruiting a guy, only to get him on campus and then he decides he doesn't like the food options and hits the portal mid-year.

The NCAA did a poor job handling NIL. I know that surprises absolutely no one

I'm confused we want Zoom and Dedan so one is a righty and the other a lefty with another righty as the possible 3rd PG. How are we going to run the offense then.

The shame is he has the potential to be alot more. He's made for the mid range game if hed just work on it and build confidence in it. But you are right about his handle. I noticed and started calling out at our home watch parties that he dribbles like the old days with his hand on top and the ball out in front of him too much which limits his ability to get past his man. Needs to learn to cup and carry it more and cross dribble more to break down his man. With his athletic ability he could be tough in the lane with pull up jumpers off ball fakes or just breaking down his man off the dribble.

Nobody wants to play for Mark Pope.
If this is even true, which I doubt, this seems like let me start a rumor to get clicks thing....... It's got nothing to do with Pope, College sports is free agency, they see what they can get every year and honestly, until its fixed, I cant say I blame them. Sucks, but pays to be prudent

There’s a girl on Twitter that’s part of a UK podcast that swears Chandler went to BYU and Utah LAST YEAR asking for a large chunk of money and was turned down then as well. She originally said it back in February but it got brought back up a week or two ago because she was saying that he would try it again this year. Her name is KY Sass or KY_Sass.

I think his dribbling and driving is fine.
I think his problem is that he's not strong enough to finish through contact when he gets to the rim.
So, he either needs to get stronger (but even then, finishing through contact is more than just strength), OR he needs to learn & master the floater that was so effective for Reeves his last season at UK (that shot was MONEY for him).

Can someone decipher what that exchange meant? Thanks in advance šŸ‘ŠšŸ»
Everyone is going to have their own take.

Here's mine:
BYU contacted Colin through back channels and Colin told them "the only way I'm coming, is if you pay me X amount of money"

Trilly's post made it sound like Colin was the one reaching out, which theoretically could be true, but if he wanted to go to BYU, why would he stay at UK for less? UK ain’t paying him top dollar, not this year.

Last year nba the last first round pick made 2.7 m.

second round pick start at minimum 1.1 m and go to 2.7 for highest rank.

why are colleges paying more than nba? This is not sustainable on economics.

its crazy how colleges just throw all these money around. yeah some of it is from rich donors but a lot of it comes from tuition and other fees that parents And fans pay .

its just crazy how no university stands up to this madness and say no, we don’t pay you that crazy amount. You are getting free tuition, housing, food, training facilities, tutors, advisors, clothing and apparel. This is just crazy and stupid and we are at fault for paying for tickets and buying tv subscription for espn .

ADs, president and board of trustees are all at fault. They are spending money that is not theirs when their role supposed to be stewardship and controlling. this is just crazy!

This is an agent driven process - the market will inflate early, programs will entertain and allow everything to settle. The current asking prices won't hold.

According to Trilly, Chandler asked BYU for a ton of money, to transfer there, BYU said no.

Chandler asked BYU for a certain amount of money. If they agreed, he'd transfer. But they told him no.
How do you guys know BYU didn’t reach out to him to see what it would take and Chandler gave them a crazy high dollar amout, THEN they said NO?
That sounds more true than Colin out shopping around, instead of just entering the portal. He did enough this last season to get a bigger payday if that's what he wants to do.

Heard Chandler asked UK for $3 Million or he was going back to Utah. His agent asked BYU for $3 Million and they laughed at him. UK's offer was a pay bump to $2 Million and Chandler thought he was worth more. Has been back-channeling supposedly trying to get more (and get back to Utah) but nobody is willing to pay anywhere near that much for him so far. Just hearsay among friends and no verifiable way to source it so take it with a grain of salt. But it seems several media personalities have gotten wind of similar rumors.
I could believe this.

If it's true, hopefully for Chandler's sake, he finds out real quick that the going rate for a guy that can only shoot, isn't really that high.
