To the Maroon and White family,
We are pleased to announce our new Mississippi State beat writer, Colin Damms! Colin’s official start date is next Monday, but with his announcement that it’s his last week with his current employer, we felt it made sense to let you all in on the news this week.
Colin is a Starkville native, born and raised as a Mississippi State fan who spent countless weekends watching the Bulldogs at Davis Wade Stadium. He got his start in sportswriting with SB Nation blogs For Whom The Cowbell Tolls and The Busby Babe back in 2017 while in college, and you have probably become familiar with his work since then at the Commercial Dispatch, where he started in 2021. He worked his way up there from part-time preps coverage to becoming the paper’s dedicated MSU sports reporter.
He knows this program, this community and, most importantly, you the fans. We couldn’t be more excited to have him here. Colin will hit the ground running starting next week!
