Was fine if we wanted to try and develop him but he wasn’t in my top 3 or 4 of guys I wanted back.
Bummed, tbh. I think he could've been good with an actual PG.
Just didn't have the shooting chops we'd hoped for. He'll do well wherever he lands.

Moreno,Chandler and Williams are the only 3 I want back.
Pope may need to go find his jersey at this point.

I think Jelly will be a good player. He has potential to be. Again, Pope isn't the right coach for him.
But we have to have the personnel that can develop. Pope certainly isn’t it. Not sure if any of our new assistants can develop or not.
I think he'll be better wherever he goes to be honest, just my opinion. We shall see

I honestly didn't think Jelly was right for us either. Maybe he will prove me wrong but he brought so little to the table.
We were so fired up when Pope signed him to come here, now we're like....oh well. Funny how things change.
I still never understand why Pope would start him then sit him on the bench like the whole second half every game.

A few thoughts . Random .. the number of " I want Chandler back" comments are insane ... do you really think he looks like ANY guard starting in that game last night ? This guy appears on a milk carton on a routine basis and people are hollering for him to come back ? He's a SG that cant get his shot off . EASILY guarded , doesnt finish that well at the rim , minus a highlight dunk rarely. He's a bit shaky with the ball .
On to Jelly . Yes he was weak at times , Yes he was clearly not expecting the full contact Wrestling that are road games in the SEC . But IMO he's a guy that can make a big leap from year 1 to year 2 . Weights . Strength . But this guy already has a good dose of hoops IQ . He has a nice looking J that will improve . And he's 6'11 . He has double the skill Mo D does. I hate to lose him . Haters pile on listing his weaknesses but with experience he could be a really nice piece , not Larry Bird ,. but a piece . Seems all our pieces are getting outta Lex , college ball sucks . Look at that hot mess last night, and the NBA is worse . Sad times

He heard Illinois pays big money for guys whose last names end in "vic" (David Mikovic, Mihailo Petrovic, and Andre Stojakovic). Add in the Ivisic twins and that is your All-Balkan team!

I will say this, I think he had a pretty good handle on what was wrong with the team this year and wasn't part of it.
Hope he does come back as long as we don't over spend to make it happen. He was one of the better finishers this year (not saying a ton lol) and showed flashes of legit potential. Wonder how he'd do though in a normal rotation and not the weird 1st half only thing
Soft and air balled a lot of wide open 3’s. Would be a nice 8th man to see if he develops but certainly not a big loss
