Elliot Cadeau, former UNC-CHeats Tarheel. That’s gotta sting.

Dr. Cadeau (he was awarded two PhDs and a medical degree as a freshman in Chapel Hill) probably could have helped stem that 19-point VCU comeback in the opening game.

Maybe it’s a lesson in being patient with a young player —from what I’ve read his decision to leave was “mutual.” Maybe it shows what good player development and coaching is worth. Or maybe it’s just a fun reason to laugh at the most corrupt program in ncaa history.

He was a solid player early on, he just wasn’t elite. He didn’t shoot it great, but always was a solid floor general. He found a great spot with the right team around him and he kept improving. Sadly we won’t see guys improve like that often. They move around too much. The roster cost fluctuates and if he didn’t get the value he wanted, and what the school said his production was worth, he’s gone.

What a miserable month for Hubert Davis. A first round flameout to VCU. Then gets fired. Then watches the PG he basically pushed out become the star of the tournament.

Did he actually get all that better tho?

The two point FG% is putrid. There's really nothing here that stands out to me. His assist rate is great, but it was also great at UNC. He's basically Lowe, with a better assist rate but also a worse turnover rate.

I think if anything this just illustrates that in one (or a few) game settings, someone can step up and perform and you never really know who/when that might happen. Or maybe another point is, sometimes you switch schools and find a role that maybe fits more with the players abilities.

The way he controlled the game is why they were able to play 3 bigs (Aday and YL being good passers for their size also helped).
