2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 that should been at least 3 titles in there

Why should 2011 and 2014 have been titles? 2014 specifically did a lot of losing.. just cause Aaron Harrison made an incredible run doesnt really mean they "should have" won the title. Especially not with Uconns Shabaz Napier flopping all over the court.

I said 3 out of 4.

2011 if you beat UCONN (we barely lost was down 2 with 1 last shot to win it) we get an 8 seed Butler team

2014 you were the underdog in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th games win them all then your the favorite and lose. Also Kentucky was preseason #1.

But I dont understand the reasoning that those two teams should have won the title, just because they made some nice runs in the tournament. Those teams, and 2014 in particular werent "great" teams. You run that 2014 tournament in a simulator 100 time we probably dont get out of the first weekend in half of them. We got bailed out by Harrisons 3 buzzer beaters.

Also, preseason rankings? Because a team is preseason #1, based mostly off of freshman recruiting rankings, were "supposed" to win the title? It turns out 2014 didnt really have much "talent".. Julius Randle, and thats about it. That was a bad recruiting class all around.

Michigan was dogshit two years ago. They make a great hire and win a title.

Ditch Pope and get a real coach at UK
He gets next year to figure it out. If he fails to meet expectations go after guys like Shertz or Lucas if we can’t pull one of the bigger coaches from another program.

The "elite freshman must always win title" argument really needs to be put to bed. I figured people would learn this after watching Coach K and Jon Scheyer take #1 recruiting classes and win nothing with them for the last decade.. and that was WITH the refs help. Its not football where raw size and speed almost always wins out. Elite freshman still make a ton of mistakes and are inexperienced. Its just a model that really only works sparingly.

Is it a coincidence that Cals best coaching jobs or his best success came when he had experienced players who he had for several years, whether at Kentucky or UMass or Memphis??

They’re gonna waste another year with Pope but he should be canned. Zero reason to expect anything good until he’s gone.

Why does he get next year?

When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
That’s just the sad reality of it. Can’t fire a coach unless they’re given at least 3 years or you end up scaring potential coaches you plan to hire.

I think we’ll know within the next week or two on if next year will be worth the wait or another wasted hear.

This is a Mo Diobate game. Mistake not keeping that guy- bruising inside the paint warriors like Mo are on both teams.
Yeah I agree we need some bruisers like him, but I’d prefer someone who can’t shoot, especially FT’s. Michigan would have lost had their entire team not been able to shoot FT’s. They reminded me of our early Calipari teams without that flaw.
