They have someone on the outside, maybe an agent, in contact with UNC. Sounds like it's BS.View attachment 1245700
Can someone explain what peripherally engaged means?
He’s not.

I love everyone's laugh react to this post lolThe interest is from UNC not McCollum.
LLoyd and May were candidates 1 and 1A on UNC wish list and both said no. Sounds like if no movement by Thursday they'll hit up Billy Donovan.View attachment 1245700

Call me crazy but depending how things go with isu next few years and the mess of things with their Athletic Dept and control freak AD Pollard. I could see Otz being a very viable candidate for KU when Self leaves. We saw same with football get a blue blood with better $ all around.Ultimately I think they end up with Donnovan If he wants it Byington if not. It's hard to see Mccollum at North Carolina. Just doesn't If seem like a good fit for either. If Kansas opens up in a few years and Mccollum doesn't feel the administration at Iowa is committing enough resources to Basketball that'd be a scenario I might be nervous about.

I thought we were talking about basketball?![]()
Mark Cuban's financial support has helped transform Indiana's football program
Cuban has poured millions into his alma mater over the years, long before Curt Cignetti took over the football team in 2024.www.nbcmiami.com
In this age of NIL, you can have a program that rivals your typical bluebloods without the headache of alums. Write your own ticket, create your own legacy.
I can’t remember…are the glass blocks like ones homes from the ‘70’s had for their bathroom window? LolNot sure on the Washington ranking.... I guess I have never given Washington basketball a second of my attention.
The rest mostly make sense.
Maybe not Nebraska. Their arena probably gives them a bump as much as anything.
REALLY wish CHA could be replaced. It's the uglies thing you'll ever see on the outside.... If we can't replace it... Can the exterior get a face lift? Replace the damn glass blocks on the exterior?
Last game I was there only ONE sink worked in the mens room in that dump. To my surprise, all the dudes were waiting on that's sink and didn't just walk out.
.... End of rant
I was waiting for someone to mention Indy being too high…..remove them and bump everyone up one. (Then insert them somewhere in the middle.)This is why you need a guy like McCollum who I feel understands where Iowa sits in the pecking order and isn’t afraid of the challenge. I can’t argue with the list, which honestly makes what Fran did for the most part pretty impressive. Also IU for all their resources and tradition I’m not sure is still the job it’s ranked at. How many coaches have they gone through since Knight? And really none have been very successful. I’m a big DeVries fan but that team is a mess this year. We’ll see if he’s the answer.
I think Uconn has been a blue blood for awhile now…UNC led the nation in attendance with around 26k.
They are clearly one of 5 blue bloods with Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and now UConn.
Coaches dream about this job.
Surprised that some coaches are taking a pass.
Hope Ben is one of them.
I think Iowa is too low.Seems about right, imo.
If Ben can lead hawks to a top half of league record he will be over- performing.
To be fair,Fran got the hawks into top 7- 8 most years also.
Iowa has definitely not been a stepping stone for their former coaches…Davis (Drake), Alford (New Mexico), Lick (Marian University), Fran (Penn)….granted Fran and The Doctor were nearing the ends of the careers though….

Things are so much different now than the Lute days. Lute was an amazing coach but was also very thin skinned. College sports was covered so differently back then. He had some very head scratching losses in the tournament, Idaho, Wichita State, etc. The way things are shaking out right now the Big Ten clearly has all the money and revenue streams so even a mid tier school like Iowa finishing 10-10 in the conference can make the Elite 8. There's no real reason to leave here at this point unless something totally unexpected happens. And we have a long history of keeping coaches. 15 years for Fran, Kirk on 20 something, Bluder could have gone as long as she wanted.Kirk sure likes it in Iowa City, too.
Lute hated living in a fish bowl and Arizona (and its weather) was too much to pass up.
I think Ben loves Iowa City; hopefully he sticks around and retires at Iowa.
