She is kinda like Matt D was with the boys team when he came here. Fans and prior players having issues. Not winning and doing it with an arrogance. No not a previous player but the AD likes her for some reason
That makes 7 players in the portal, plus 4 who are seniors (three who were starters) and I assume have exhausted their eligibility. I think they now have 2 returning players: Talaysia Cooper who is their best player, and 6th woman freshman phenom Jaida Civil.
Plus they have the #5 recruit and the #43 recruit according to On3, so 4 known players next season as of now.
One of the Pauldo twins is a starter and was an All-SEC freshman team member

What a shambles there on Rocky Top. They had the #1 recruiting class last year and now 4 out of the 5 are in the portal. Given the late season collapse where they lost so many games, it's not surprising to see this mass exodus.

Much better player than Zam Jones. Cooper will easily be top 20 in the portal. 2nd team All-SEC and best player on the #23 team. (NET ranking)
Jones will not be in the top 30. Arguably the 4th best player on the #26 team.
Not saying that I would not take Jones, now that we have a hole in our roster. But she would not improve our team over last season.
But the unknown factor always will be player compensation. Jones could be a bargain, who knows?

Tennessee prize recruit the "Big Oh" is asking for a release from her scholarship.
It's been a dumpster fire since January 29 when they began to lose 10 out of their last 12 games (closing out the season with 8 straight losses).
Players are seeking the big money bag these days, if nothing is done soon it could lead to the collapse of college basketball as we have known. Real reason why mid majors are no longer able to provide March Madness upsets, while the rich get richer. Even if you have a good to great coach without the money they will be unable to compete at a high standard. Still enjoy the game but my enthusiasm has been less over the past years.
With Jaida Civil now entering the portal, that is the ENTIRE Tenn wbb team, plus one recruit. gone.

We can joke and poke fun at Tennessee , but if you ask me and knowing Tennessee they always seem to poach off our players for what ever reason , I think this is a blessing in disguise for them and the program.
Waiting to see if Gabby Minus decommits. She also had Baylor, Georgia, Florida and Clemson in her final five. If this happens then it'll be a complete decimation of their roster for next year. Rocky Top has turned into Rock Bottom.

Kim Caldwell has a $2 Million buyout clause. Her assistants do not.
While Tenn does invest a lot in WBB, $2 Million might be too much to stomach at this time?
Maybe I’m just being a jerk but she wasn’t wrong. They did quit on her. Idk where all this vitriol towards her is coming from when a year ago she was a darling of the sport
I don't have any reason to hate Caldwell, just here to enjoy the schadenfreude of Tenn struggling.
But in responding to this controversy specifically:
- If an entire team quits in the game, that is on the staff. Either they somehow failed at evaluation of recruiting a dozen bad apples, or more likely, they are failing at coaching.
- When your team quits on you, you take responsibility in public, then address it in private. Her airing out the dirty laundry is not going to help and is a bad look of a "not my fault" attitude.
- she clearly did not solve anything after this public shaming.
- when your entire team enters the portal, you have lost the team. Plain and simple. That is complete failure. Even if you wanted the majority to move on, having every good player and the top recruit abandon ship is a strategic failure at minimum and full on mutiny more likely.
