Holy Moly. If toupees could turn gray, Bill Self's would be the color of the snow in the gutter on day six after the storm.

Tiller was the last of their five starters who might return, and at least two of the other guys who played reserve minutes are gone. I know they have some recruits and redshirts coming in, including probably Stokes. But he strikes me as another Peterson, in terms of team chemistry and reliability ahead of his NBA eligibility. This guy was their most promising returnee after Bidunga bolted.

The Leavenworth Correctional Facility Intramural League will be getting a close look, especially anyone in for assaulting a woman.

As for Kentucky -- only if he's a package deal with Bidunga. Maybe they were friends and still want to play together. He'd be an upgrade over Garrison on the offensive end, but he's probably going to bring big bucks in the portal.

Really like this guy, but seems another season away. Although, Self does have a tendency to not rely on his inexperienced bigs as much as his experienced bigs. Perhaps, he was held back a bit with the presence of Bidunga. Interesting prospect indeed.

The Kansas players transferring and the UNC head coach search fiasco shows how little the blue blood brand currently means. That said, the puffing of the chest and "we are Kentucky" should probably sunset when talks of recruitment and/or coaching search.

The plot thickens.
Are Bidunga and Tiller basically saying they're not playing sidekicks to a 4-5 mil freshman?
Maybe they didn't enjoy playing with Peterson and don't want to run it back with Stokes.
Kansas will need Stokes plus a big portal haul.now to be a contender.

I don’t venture to other boards. Do you know how Kansas fans are responding to Self’s declaration that he is returning for another season?

Tells me that Stokes is locked in with Kansas and I’m going on a limb and saying that Tiller and Bidunga are both hitting the portal for Kansas to bump up their NIL deals especially with Stokes getting 3-4. One of the 2 will go back to Kansas if they can match what others offer.

I don't spend any time on Kansas boards, but by a coincidence I have a daughter who is a full professor at Kansas -- and she knows hoops because she was an intern in the Florida Sports Information office when Billy Donovan won his titles there (and watched many, many games with me.) She knows a lot about the mood of the KU fan base.

What she tells me is that Kansas fans are for the most part over Self, for two reasons:
1. The "heartland of America" types who liked the fiction that Kansas basketball was a midwestern icon with a largely clean reputation (yes, like I say a fiction) are embarrassed and angry with the number of players in trouble with the law. Arterio Morris was the last straw: Actually signing a kid AFTER he'd been run off at Texas for assaulting his girlfriend. Then, almost immediately, he's charged with rape in Lawrence.

2. Then there are the "Just Win Baby" types. The 2022 title was a big deal -- it got them to HALF Kentucky's total and bought Self lots of good will -- but it also disguised the fact that since the 2018 season, which of course was a forfeit for cheating, 2022 was the ONLY time Kansas has been to the second weekend in what will be a decade by next March. Kansas hasn't made the Sweet 16 since 2017, except 2022, after you strike the year the NCAA vacated their appearance. They see him much the same way Kentucky fans were seeing Calipari at the end.

People were actually excited about the prospects of a coaching search right after Self's remarks when Kansas was bounced by St. John's. You know, the grass is always greener. Many weren't happy when that proved to be a fake-out.

No it doesn’t. Just demonstrates what this new NiL era means. Players are free agents and testing the market every year. Has nothing to do with the blue blood brand because it’s occurring everywhere.

I am much more concerned about the next UK roster. Really concerned... However, I do like some roster drama at other rival schools.

I get the rationale for why people think Kansas players entering the portal=Stokes to Kansas.

The opposite is also possible. A week ago, Kansas had Flory and Tiller in line to start next year. Now, they've got to pay those guys a ton of money or find 2 other starters.

I don't think it means they've necessarily landed Stokes.

I don't know the situation, but if I were Self and could do anything about it at all, I would do whatever I could to keep Bidunga - and even Tiller to a lesser extent.

I watched them a few times. They had the athleticism and depth to be a good team. I’d try to keep a couple of those guys. Tiller and Bidunga for sure. I sure wouldn’t mind nabbing them.

Shoot, yeah! I'd be happy to see UK get either one

I would love to get Kansas players and then have an excellent year. Just like adding salt to the wound, some added pleasure.
