Yup now what. Not sure this is all that important just as upgrading Walsh did not help the program. Any kids we recruited staying because of the Walsh upgrade? Any kids come because of the Walsh upgrade? Ditto a GM. Nice to have is all I can see. Not sure it is money best spent.
I mean, I think we should give the guy a chance....
This is a pro league. Managing and maintaining agent relationships, market values and dynamics, skilled negotiation, and so forth, are all important to have dedicated resources towards. It’s a full time job.
The coaches coach, lead the program, and provide basketball expertise. They own the wins and losses.

And any GM hired was clearly vetted and ok'd by Shaheen. Whether he really wants a GM at this point, who knows, but it had to happen.
I’m at the Final Four and ran into the Virginia Tech coach. I asked him about Hernandez and he said we are going to love this guy.
Can you ask why they didn't try harder to keep him? It's not like he was there for 10 years and needed a change of scenery. You don't find someone great and lose him to a school with no funds like Seton Hall. Something doesn't smell right.

but yeah I mean he’s not going to say anything bad, but he was enthusiastic and genuine.
I get the sense he wanted to come back to the northeast…maybe?
As Piratz said above “this is a pro league”. If you like pro b-ball watch the G League or NBA. I, for one, don’t, although I was a Celtics fan during the Cousy, Russell era. My interest in what was formerly known as college b-ball is no more. “Once a Pirate always a Pirate” now only applies to students who attend SH and graduate.

As I've been said many times, I see the excuses for next year already. He was thrown into this position last minute and did the best he could being hired the week before the portal opened. He didn't have a chance to keep Hines or anyone else for that matter and scrambled to put something together. Give him time.
I have a friend who worked with an assistant coach who is now at VT. He said it is a good hire. We will have to see. I also heard Sha is happy with the GM too.
