Honestly, this is sad to me.

* A kid reaches his peak as a sophomore in high school, when he is the consensus 'best player his age in America', then comes to Kentucky -- where he is swiftly outclassed by other guards.

* John Calipari sabotages his last, great Kentucky team because he has ties to the kid's family and insists on playing him, but no one is missing the obvious -- that the team is better without him. Calipari rides the deceit all the way to a humiliating loss to Oakland.

* Calipari leaves Kentucky ahead of the posse and takes DJ with him to Arkansas, but buries him for two years behind Boogie Fland and especially Darius Acuff.

* Then, when D.J. has very little value left as a portal player, Calipari forces him out. He's now ISO a place to play, while Acuff is prepping to be a top 3 draft pick, Reed Sheppard is doing well with the Houston Rockets, and Dillingham is getting 20 minutes a game for the Chicago Bulls.

Really, it is sad and I feel bad for the kid, who is probably a great kid who doesn't understand why all the promise he had at age 15 never came to pass.

Who else remembers when this guy was being touted as a generational talent and hands down the best HS prospect in the country?

It’s been a long road headed the wrong way for him ever since then.
Should have never started ahead of Dilly & Reed.
DJ & Bradshaw have disappointed 5 fan bases now.
Just goes to show that ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s earned in High School do not always transfer to Big time college hoops.
i predict DJ & Bradshaw to Big East schools like Villanova - Seton Hall or Providence with St John’s & GTown as dark horses.

I don't follow recruits beyond RR........when this kid came on campus I had bought into the hype......he has been disappointing ever since.......he has flashes but nothing like we were led to believe........he was touted as being a hybrid of his father and grandfather............Shows what the experts on here know......

Calipari did everything for this kid, kind of disrespectful to dip on him like that? Cal literally showcased this kid instead of two lottery picks, to the team's detriment. How much more money does he think he's gonna get?

Interested to see where 24/7 will rank him. prob 4 star though i'd argue 3.

It is not so much that DJ was not as talented as his hype was coming out of high school ... it was that Cal insisted on starting/playing him over Reed and Rob. He should have been coming off the bench the entire time.

Might be one of the all-time greatest highschool recruiting busts. Certainly over the last decade or two.

He was the #1 recruit for his class going all the way back to Junior High, stayed #1 pretty much all the way through. He may have fallen to 2nd in some rankings towards the end, but basically 5 straight years of being the top recruit.

Then, he's terrible as a freshman and is a big reason why they lost in the opening round. He transfers to Arkansas to follow his coach, never really gets any better. Now he's gonna transfer a 3rd time and it will almost for sure not be to a top25 program to be the starting PG. Likely to have 0 NBA career, and even debatable what sort of overseas career he has. Will be working as a car salesman in 3 years.

He'll always be better than Bradshaw.

I think he’s done this every season. He’ll end up back at Arkansas. Probably just to gage his value.

Remember 2 years ago he was going to USC because he had a girlfriend there or something
No he's gone. There were rumors during the season he would enter the portal. Being an experienced senior he wants to play meaningful minutes and not sub for another of Cal's 5*.
