Speiser would be game changers. Exactly what we need at 2 guard
On 3 had had her recruiting between Iowa and k state. Talia Goodman predicted Iowa
6’1” shooting guard
Maybe? She looks like another 5 star recruit who struggled mightily as a freshman to adjust to college ball. Very low percentage shooting (37% in conference play) with a horrible ATO rate (.43).

I would hope we are targeting at least one starter. If Jan is simply looking for bench players, than the staff is not serious about being a perennial top-ten program.

Also, losing Hanna is a big deal. We like to complain about her shooting, but her defense and rebounding cannot be replaced by anyone on our current roster.
TBF the portal just opened and this is what we know about so far.

Lauren Hurst and Jordan Speiser as new Hawkeyes would be very appealing. Hurst is 6'3' and Speiser is 6'1"...Ava, McKenna, Chit Chat, Lauren Hurst and Jordan Speiser 6'4",6'3", 6'2", 6'1'' and Chit Chat at 5'4"...
Jordan would be a great start. Her perimeter game is just what the Hawks need. She has a do not contact tag on her announcement. I know the Hawks were in the running out of high school, fingers crossed.

What is it about her perimeter game that you like? Is it her terrible shooting percentage or abysmal ATO rate? I'm struggling with your assessment here.

Finally someone worth Jan going after.

I watched her play in a couple of games this year, Very ball dominant and definitely not afraid to shoot the ball. Reminded me of Chavez in the McDonalds all star game, Really liked to hunt a shot. I guess that can be good or bad depending on your perspective.

This was posted earlier and I said no issues as she would definitely be a good player but a back court of 5'4" and 5'7" could be an issue also.

I knew there was speculation of her entering the portal. I guess I missed her actually making it official.

Many players have trouble adjusting to college play as freshman. JJ/ Iowa scouted her in high school and are offering her a 2nd time. Personally I trust the coaching staff more than only using her freshman stats do evaluate her. I haven't seen her play; have you?

Wow, wonder what the "final number" will be entering the portal. All about "me", no more loyalty. Sad!
Anecdotal but a coworker's son plays men's ball for NDSU. All several of the players care about is having a good season so they can get a good NIL package at a P4 school. Now, this doesn't go for all players, but most mid major players are looking to cash in. Loyalty to the dollar.

Would be nice to breakthrough and get one of the Hopkins (MN) players (though not sure McGill is the right fit). A nearby juggernaut program.

It could have been speculation, thanks for posting it regardless. She would probably be a very good player for us... hopefully we could add a bigger guard also.

Unfortunately true, how times have changed since watching players like Dick Jensen etc back in the day.

I watched her play in the Big12 tournament, she would be the #2 guard that we are looking for. 3 years remaining.

the Virginia guard would work well also, but will be a senior.

Really hurts programs that really depend on developing players. Unfortunately not enough minutes to around to make everyone happy.

Pretty sure the staff is counting on CCW being the starting point guard, so I would be surprised if they brought in a big ticket to replace her. Probably not happening.

At a minimum they need a starter and 2 backups at the guard/wing spots. CCW played a crazy amount of minutes this year. Plenty of minutes to go around.

Iowa can play both at the same time, like when they did with Kathleen Doyle and Tania Davis. Though, as someone pointed out, Kymora Johnson is only 5'7. Davis is about the same height as CCW, but Doyle is 5'9, not the tallest but at least average.

Yep. The point starter was the point. I don't see a player like Johnson coming in to play off ball. Players like that want to be the primary option. Just don't see that happening, and they aren't starting 5'4 with 5'7.

Yes. 37% is horrible. It would have made her the second worst shooter on the team after Kylie. Weren't you one of the people agreeing that Taylor should be a backup? She shot 55% in conference play.
Wait...are you talking 37% overall or from three??
