An interesting prospect. I agree with several posters who hope that JJ and staff start scouring the international market. I housed (foreign exchange student) a 6'2" soccer young woman who played high school soccer here in Arizona and she was far superior to many of the American girls. She ended up getting a full ride to a Pac Ten school. Stanford listed a new portal entry. Lara Somfai from Adelaide, Australia. She is a 6'3" forward who averages 10.8 ppg and 9.1 rpg. I don't know much of her basketball skills---> I watched a few clips but we know she is intelligent and being a foreigner, she has played for the national team. If JJ could get one girl from Australia it might be a pipeline for future prospects adding that Lucy played professionally there last season.

she shot 33 total free throws this year compared to hannahs 157. not as big of a deal and especially considering she shot around 75% the previous three years

What is assist rate? You mean per game? I thought assist to turnover is what you want. And ChitChat, McCabe, Kylie, and Journey had as good or better than Stremlow. And if you only shoot 3 shots a game and they are probably layups, I would expect 69% or so.
Now you're just being ridiculous. You keep looking for ways to diminish what she did. She was number one on the team in assists per 40 minutes of play. Assist to turnover is very important. She turned it over too often, but her ATO was still 1.9. Chitchat was the best guard at 2.2. Kylie was 1.6 and Addie was 1.1. McCabe was at 2.0 but it was mostly due to a lack of turnovers because she rarely handled the ball and didn't create for herself or anyone else. Her assist rate was less than half of Stremlow..
Nobody shoots 69% from 2. Not even Ava or Hannah and most of their shots were within a few feet of the basket. You said she couldn't make her own shots but very few of those 2 pointers that she hit at an extremely high percentage were assisted. She created and made her own shots at a 69% clip and now you're trying to downplay her percentage because she was able to get to the rim? Isn't that what you want??

I'm going to trust Jan and her staff to find the right players to complement our very good core of players. Ava, Chit Chat and Taylor are all very good. I expect McKenna to come in and start. That leaves the three, Houston or someone from the portal. Layla will be a solid backup to Ava. I expect 4 from the portal. PG, CG, SF, and PF now that Mallegni is leaving.

Inless Journey moves to rhe 3, we have 4 players already slotted to start and provide depth at the 4-5 positions. We only have 2 players manning the 2-deep at the guard positions.. I wouldnt be surprised if every portal target is a guard as they need 4 players just to fill out the 2 deep in that group.
I would hope JJ is shooting higher than that but Iowa is going to need 3-4 replacements at the bare min so maybe a bench player? Question does she play good defense at all??

Sad that you would be negative towards Kenzie, have you watched her play much? Keep in mind that ISU pounded the ball inside to Crooks so she wasn't going to shoot much.
I can assure you the Iowa coaches have looked at her film in detail and like her game. I trust their judgement.

Kymora Johnson from Virginia is in the portal. Iowa should be all in on this young woman.
I don't have any information on her other than statistics and her FT shooting as others have stated is a concern. There's something wrong with a guard that's shooting 25% from the free throw line over the last 2 months of the season. It was a low volume but still. She was also 37% from 2 and her ATO is comparable to Addie. Are you going to blame Audi Crooks for her being a horrible free throw shooter this year? IMO she's certainly not what Iowa needs in their starting lineup which they still need to fill out.

I would hope we are targeting at least one starter. If Jan is simply looking for bench players, than the staff is not serious about being a perennial top-ten program.
Also, losing Hanna is a big deal. We like to complain about her shooting, but her defense and rebounding cannot be replaced by anyone on our current roster.

Yes, but the question remains who those 4 players are. If that was unimportant they could/would have paid Levin and Mallegni to stay. You're trying to upgrade your positions. Perhaps this player could make a decent depth piece as a previous poster suggested, but at least one high level starter is necessary, along with some quality depth.
