All the best to that young lady. Sounds like she has a new home since she has a " Do Not Contact" tag. I believe she was the highest rated player in that class. Now it's just Ava and Taylor, hard to believe.

The team has 12-15 player roster. How many recruits has Jan landed? 2 portal players, one came with GT Assistant to Iowa, and well, then there is Emely. Good luck on Jan filling the roster with better players. Teagan fit the culture. Iowa will struggle to fill the roster with blue blood talent, just like Ben.
She's waiting for the right offer to come in before committing to leaving.
They have an excellent core today with a blueblood talent coming in next year. Jan needs to land at minimum 3 high quality guards/wings from the portal. CCW was an excellent acquisition. Deal (and soon Emely) leaving frees up lot of cash to pick up some good talent.

Unfortunately it was clear she was gone when she recovered from her injury and had been buried on the chart.
The odds of this happening are very slim. Lucy and CCW were good finds, but different seasons. I'd say Emely was a "miss" so far. I'm old and probably missing someone, but have there been other transfers who have helped?
Having to use the portal this much is new. In the past we’ve had to grab 1-2. As others have posted we have a lot of money and we’re a top 10-15 program with a lot of money. I see no reason why we won’t or can’t get some top tier players in. It’s how the world works today. Some of you folks are acting like losing the 9th and 10th players on the roster is the end of the world. It’s not. Kids stuck around in the past because they had to. Now they don’t. We will be fine.
If that's the case, Jan should offer her $0.00. A scholarship is good enough. That should do it. In my mind, this drama is being milked because of the creampuff nature Iowa handled it, just trying to ignor it. I said it would get this far so it did not look as obvious as it is, or certainly should be. She does not fit.
You're not just old. You're also being very pessimistic. Emely was a miss, but I also think the staff was counting on Addie to be a much larger contributor from the guard spot than she was. This is a new era in sports and coaches are having to figure this out on the fly. Lucy and CCW were great finds. She needs to find one high quality starter and a couple of good depth pieces and we're off and running. McCabe missed almost the entire conference season and KF and Addie weren't great. There's no reason for the guards not to be better next year.
I think they'll get a lot of talent in, but I question how many they will sign.....and how good they'll actually be. There was a lot of excitement about signing Deal as a FR, but that didn't play out the way most thought it would. We were supposed to be in on some good talent CC22's final years, but we didn't get them signed either. If you can't sign players when CC22 is the main selling point, how can we get them w/out her? It was basically a guaranteed Final-4 appearance when Clark was here.
Everyone is still learning how to use the Portal and what strategies will be put in place. I love the fact we got Lucy and CC, but I'm not sure anyone expected the output we got from them. Although it's a different situation, I really like how football is using it - getting proven guys from smaller schools w/ multiple years left.....still time to mold them into the player that fits the Iowa system, but they come w/ a known skillset........it's perfect for Iowa football. Does iowa bball (M or W) have a strategy on how to use the portal?
With the size of football rosters, it doesn't hurt as much as when you whiff on a recruit or portal target in basketball.
They haven't handled it. She sits on the bench and beat writers know they shouldn't ask, or get a crappy answer.
Also they stuck around because their was a path toward more playing time. Kali Peschel played from 2012-2016. She started when she had to, having 0, 19, 3, and 20 starts across her four years. Midway through Kali's sophomore year, Ally Disterhoft took over the starting job. Now, Peschel might have left because the portal could bring in someone ahead of her at any time.

So we’re basically 2 years into really using the transfer portal and of course you’re already questioning how we do it. We got a 1st team all conference pt guard 1 year (Lucy) and a 3rd team performer in Chit Cgat as a Sophomore with 2 more years to go. We were just supplementing the roster. Emily was a bust. No different than Hausen on the men’s side who got a million bucks. How much strategy can you really have? We have money, we’ll let players (and of course their agents) know and we’ll get some players.

You have no idea on anything, so why are you or we here. We all know nothing behind the curtain. Clearly, if someone is taking a medical redshirt, that could have been said. "Day to Day" and "she's on the roster as of now" and nothing in 2 months while McCabe went down says something silently.

You've obviously got a dog in the fight here with Teagan. Seemed like a great teammate and kid. So what do we all want here. We want the number 9 and 10 players on the team to be loyal to Iowa while the other half of our fan base expects Jan to up the recruiting from CC and get nothing but 5 star players. It doesn't work that way. Kids aren't happy being the number 10-15 player on any roster anymore. They just aren't. And guess what? They're probably going to leave almost every year for what they perceive as better days for them. And that's ok for everyone. Makes it harder for the coaches to have to fill spots besides the top 8-9 players. If a Freshman isn't good enough pretty quickly you go find a portal player to play over her. And then she leaves. This isn't a Jan Jensen issue. It's an issue at every single school.
The portal just opened today for any player without a degree. No Iowa player has entered the portal yet.

Really tough when you see the exceptions to the rule like UCLA and UCONN have 6th players that could go in the draft.
99% of the time players like Kneepkens aren't going to go to a team loaded to the brim with talent and 99% of the time players like Dugalic are going to transfer out if they aren't going to be the starter.
