As I begin to write this post. I want to thank the USC women's basketball team, Coach Staley, her staff and all the fams that supported this basketball team. I know the last game did not end the way we wanted it to but like in sports sometimes you have to tip your hat to the other team. UCLA handled themselves with class and sportsmanship. Tip of the hat to them. This team to a degree did better than what a lot of people expected them to do. We had only one starter returning from last year's team and Coach Staley probably did her best coaching job. Like a friend told me one time, you know the other team is trying to win too and sometimes you have to admit the best team won on that day. Yes, UCLA in my opinion was the best team. They had 7 seniors on that team and they played like it. USC will rebound from this game as next year we have Kelsi Andrews, Kaeli Wynn, Jersey Robinson, and returning players Chloe Kitts, and Ashlyn Watkins along with the transfer guard from Iowa. Lastly a lot of schools are putting resources into women's basketball. Just saw where Alabama is going to build a new $50m basketball practice facility. Other schools as well are putting resources in women's basketball. like Dawn said it is getting harder and harder. Just the way things are in collegiate sports today.

After beating tournament favorite UConn, I was surprised by the final score being as lopsided as it was, but I don't follow women's basketball, so I assume UCLA was just that good.

From the little bit I gleaned on here, it didn't seem like this was one of Dawn's better teams, so I reckon it was a great coaching job by her and getting to the title game was accomplishment enough.

UConn was way overrated. They got to hide in the Big East. A lot of people didn't pay it attention because it's UConn and they have Geno. They had 3 good players, but losing Paige Bueckers was major. She was big part of making it work for them. I always felt that UCLA and Texas was our competition for the title this year.

Is there concern that Dawn has been humiliated in two consecutive title games?
You are always concerned after any loss, but I think it's more a personnel issue as opposed to anything she is doing wrong. Usually, it's not coaching when you get beat 20+. It's that we were not even close to being good enough that day. For the last two years, Dawn has not had that dominant big that our program is used too. Yet, she tinkered around with it and got us to the big game where we were overmatched. Frankly, I was more disappointed last year. UConn was good, but not overwhelmingly good in the way UCLA displayed. We had some dissension on the team that I think played itself out in that UConn game. Yesterday, we just got our butts kicked by a team that made us look small. I haven't seen that with Carolina Women's Basketball in over 10 years.

In addition to being overmatched by UCLA, Geno’s antics the 2 days before created a weird/sad scenario that I’m sure affected our players. It completely added a new dimension that our team had to experience. They looked tired and uninspired as well. Just a big meatball of sad.
