Bull$&it, you don’t treat this like it’s some job, they want to make money I get it, they should but you shouldn’t get to leave every year to the highest bidder or you don’t want to compete to win the position.

I like the idea of getting to tranfer once and if do it again you have to seat out a year to play.
I get your point but my question would be, why?

Why one transfer and then you have to sit out a year? Why?

The players collectively bargain in the NFL. They’re the ones who agree to any limits (salary cap, contract terms, etc.)

If you want contracts, there has to be a players union. Simple.

by the way don’t point the finger at the NCAA for this, point it at the SEC and B1G, each of which has ZERO desire to reign in any of today’s college sports goings on.

in fact, the B1G has benefitted so much from all this I don’t see any possible way they ever do anything to curb what’s allowed it to finally break through.
Exactly and if the players could/would, they would always do what they can for themselves first.

Right now, the college players have sooooo much power, they don't want to give that up...

And I think this is what makes the NFL have a sense of fairness as the small market teams can compete with the LA and New York teams etc. I hope college football doesn’t get to the point it’s so unfair that we don’t watch it anymore

One thing to remember when comparing it to the NFL is that in college, you get 5 years (maybe 6) and it is done.

In the NFL, you have as long as you can play.

Imagine starting your "career" and the very first day you start...you know you only have 5 years to make as much money as you can and then it is all over...forever.

I haven't read the whole thing but the single transfer rule would create a ton of problems. Imagine redshirting one year, and you decide to transfer closer to home. You have to sign a four year deal with the school because you can't transfer again, but you haven't played yet. So you a take a four year, 400k contract. You then become an all-conference player and are making 10x less than the incoming freshman, so your only option is to go pro or hold out and not play, you have lost all leverage. So instead of transfers we are going to see hold-outs or guys go pro and sign free agent deals. Not really better.

You just described the reality of an average American employee at ANY corporation. The greedy ones move on to another city, families be darned, and get the big paycheck they were looking for.

NFL at least has a plan in place. Rookies make what they make until year 4.

BTW, the single transfer rule was fine up until Covid. That changed everything, for whatever reason.

Here is another guy many NU fans are happy to dive into the michigan fox hole with tonight

B1G fans are such colossal losers
Nebraska should have stayed in the Big12.
Being envious of Texas ans Oklahoma was expected.
But now, being in the B1G, the Huskers are actually looking up at even more teams.
The only positive is more $$$, even as a cellar dweller.

Big Ten and SEC should tell the NCAA to F-Off and just form their own football league. 34-team football league. A 12 or 16-team playoff.

Non-revenue sports should then be organized geographically. It's stupid to have women's basketball/soccer/softball traveling from Oregon/Washington to Penn State/Rutgers and vice versa. Not to mention a terrible waste of money for travel expenses.

this move is playing out exactly as expected - a clear shift in priorities from our time in the Big 12

we are banking money, which is the only scoreboard the admin and BOR care about

#1 in media revenue in the league in 2025
