And if he loses games next year and gets fired, nobody can say he wasn't given a fair shot to prove he can do the job. So we aren’t disagreeing on that.
Where we disagree, is WHEN UK fires Pope. You just can't fire him after year 2 when he had injuries and he did what he did in year 1. You fire him now and UK will get blasted more that the Kentucky Shame deal. You absolutely cannot fire him right now.
This is incorrect. In the NIL era where millions is spent, firing a coach at a blue blood with his record is more than justifiable and would be seen as such. People would understand, his recruiting is the worst we’ve ever seen at a blue blood in history. There’s no way he can keep up because even if he pulled one his history shows he cannot recruit longevity. His blowouts are extreme, he is really bad at roster management and roster sub. His coaching is bizarre. His pressers are more bizarre. Clearly in over his head, it’s been said by several high profile analyst. With recruiting trejectory being so bad, nobody would blame Kentucky for moving on. They’d say the hire was bad and the new AD wants to change it up given the money spend.
Rememeber, NOBODY knew the back door Gillispie stuff at the time. Nobody reported on it, it was said that he had bizarre recruiting strategies and couldn’t win on the court and Kentucky dosnt deal with that. Nobody questioned 2 years and fired even then. It was just said the fit was horrible.
That was a long, long time ago. This is millions wasted, horrible recruiting, many, many blowouts. He can’t even get recruits being legal to recruit illegally to UK. That’s no small thing. There’s no way firing mark pope wouldn’t be understood. It’s simply not a possibility. There’s a lot of incorrect evaluations going on with regard to this.
