Yeah normally I like hard nosed players that talk trash, but he legit seems like he seeks out attention and has a “poor me” attitude. Oh my life is so hard, I’m getting millions of dollars and free education, please feel sorry for me. What a joke. I’d much rather have Juke at this point.

I normally don't mind a little attitude. Most alpha players have it. BUT, that takes a strong willed coach who will remind them who is in charge. We don't have that. We have far lesser players that seemingly play hard only when they want to already.

I have a question. Please share your thoughts. Do you think Stokes would have the ultimate respect for Pope and execute the offense or do his own thing? Sure his own thing may be better than what Pope wants but it doesn’t create team dynamics. If you’re not a team hard to have success. What I’m reading I’m not sure he is the answer.

No. I think it’s match made in holy hell. I don’t think Pope is built for that type of player.

Here is the thing about that....I did not want Pope when he was hired, not one bit. At the end of this season, I said he needed to be fired now that MB was gone and I meant it. But what I will NOT, absolutely not do, is spend the next tear dogging the dude out unless he deserves it based on this season. He is sucking *** right now in recruiting, and I let him have it because of it. But if he kills it in the portal, I will give him credit for it. I am going to pull for is every single game just like last season and if we go out and have a great season, finish top 3 in the SEC and make the Elite 8 or better, then I will be back on board with giving him another year. What makes me sick is the number of "fans" on this board that will really be rooting for us to have a terrible year next season just to see the guy go

Genuinely hope he goes to Kansas at this point. Let Stokes get bait and switched by Self when the old man retires right before the season for medical reasons.

I could not give fewer *****.

I dunno man. Dude seems a bit unlikable. "Rushing me" an "Y'all make me laugh."

I get its a big decision but he's about to make more money than most 18 year olds ever see.

I think he's KU Bound and that's gonna suck but he seems to have an attitude.

He's literally going to Kansas that's why he's yapping but Kentucky fans like that are embarrassing

No offense, Cowboy, but nobody really cares whether or not the Village Idiot (or Black Sheep) wants the coach to stay. There really are more important people to make those decisions. I personally won’t feel like he’s “THE MAN” to me without an Elite Eight (proves he can perform at least one level above average in the NCAA tournament. But ultimately, I’m very conscious of the fact that the administration should not and will not wait for my input. I’ll support the program I love and, in my mind, part of that is stewarding my part in this fanbase. I view being supportive AND critical as equal parts important, assuming I do those things responsibly and fairly.

Yeah I'm starting to fade on wanting him as bad as I did. Don't get me wrong we need him and I'd still take him, but man this is getting ridiculous. EVERYONE knows he's going to Kansas so just commit dude.
That’s about where I’m at. I hide no qualms that we need him but I don’t care for his attitude.

And I’m getting reeeeall sick at the shots at the fan base from the Charmin society. Some of these dudes are in for a very rude awakening when they go pro. Some pro fan bases make us look like angels.

I don’t think Swlf can do it anymore either. He just had a dude sit out on him at times this past seasons. These new dudes are a special breed of pampered.

That is a perfectly reasonable statement if he’s gonna say anything at all.

He didn’t need to be reactionary to the point of saying anything at all. But that nuance means bupkiss. He is in fact “an 18 year old tryna make the biggest decision of my life while the whole world is rushing me.”

If you don't want Stokes at Kentucky than you must have not seen him play, besides we need someone with an attitude on the floor and on the coaching staff too.
I’ve seen him play. I respect his skills. There’s a difference between dawg and attitude though.

All I can say is welcome to the real world. Jobs don’t wait on you either. Pros don’t pull the BA of waiting either unless you are LeBron or Wemby.

And as good as Stokes is he ain’t that.

Weird thread comments guys.

Dude is 18 and millions of dollars on the line.

I also think he goes to Kansas, and I also think if he wants some ridiculous number like $6 to $8 million we would be better off spending that on 2 superstars portal guys equivalent to yaxel or something.

That said... all this inference that he is some bad kid, ego this or that, drama this that....yall are just making up crap out of thin air and I still want the number 1 recruit regardless as long as its not over paying for him.

If we get stokes and paid $7 mil or some ridiculous number, to me that will be as stupid as paying $2 mil for Jaden Q and his bum knee. Even Dybunsta only get 4 mil i think and Stokes isnt as good... he probably would have been only top ten in this stacked class but he's number 1 in a weaker class..

Still want him though, he's a player

He should have just ignored the poster but his reply didn’t show any attitude to me. All you people show a lot more attitude than what he wrote.

Look man, and I am completely serious...I don't want this egomaniac. We are probably offering this kid $7-8M. That would get you three top 15 portal guys. Give a top 2-3 portal player $3-4M and I would roll with that all day
I can understand that sentiment. If we could guarantee that Pope could reel in 3 guys I would take that all day. The issue is he hasn’t proven he can yet.

No kidding. They're mad at us for booing when we got our a$$es kicked by Gonzaga? Or how about the other blowout losses this year? Are we terrible for expecting to beat St Peter's AND Oakland? Oh the horror. It couldn't be that we have had the worst or one of the worst 6 year stretches in the programs history and are fed up with mediocrity could it? If Cal and Pope actually vented about that then guess what guys. You know how to stop that? Win. That simple.

It's the double Murican standard.

Bama football fans get away with it. Us on the other hand? We're ungrateful sods.

I'm tired of double standards everywhere.
