How long before it all comes crashing down? Eventually the schools will run out of money. Some already have. It’s not sustainable the way it’s going. Sure there will be schools that can continue, but it will be fewer and fewer. Even UK is feeling the strain.

I can see the NCAA putting a cap on how much a university/college can spend in total, but each player would be able to negotiate other deals for themselves….except at UK where JMI won’t allow it! 🤮

I would like to see all deals negotiated by the players and their agents. The school can put players in touch with the collectives, but that’s it. Or is that what they are already doing?

UK is not feeling the strain. If they were, would they give $1 million a year to Mitch to sit around and eat hay? Either that or Eli is an idiot and/or crook taking kickbacks.

I’ll go with the latter . It was a settlement to get Mitch to go away basically.

There’s no way they can cap it. It will be right back in court.

The market seek its level. The wide open transfer portal is more the problem than anything else.

Players should be allowed one move and 5 years to play 4 seasons.

Additional moves allowed by hardship orca coaching change.

The NIL is not pay for play so it can’t be regulated by anything but the market.

It’s endorsement money. Even the pros are not restricted on endorsements.

As for UK, no one has more money to spend on basketball than UK

The JMI issue is just an excuse and scapegoat for the Pope problem.

I assumed the portal is already basically past tense as of whenever that executive order goes into effect that says you now get only one free transfer. Did I miss something?

Even professional sports have salary caps. You can absolutely cap it and regulations will be in force sooner than later. This is a 4-6 year Wild West but it’s all but guaranteed not to last. Endorsements and NIL are similar but not the same.

Nobody is going to go by that, everyone of these schools and players will take a different case to court and get it stuck down. Until Congress acts nothing will be done. It will be court battles for years.
