Need to retain our other key pieces and continue to develop all of them. Greatest need is still an athletic and physical big. With Lanie gone, there should be more incentive for Brooks, Henderson, Harping, and Hull to work on their games and step into the spotlight next season. Picking up another athletic combo guard who can shoot wouldn’t hurt, but we’ve got several with tons of potential.

This is college basketball for now. Olivia M left ND. The coaches can play it perfectly and players are going to leave. You hopefully can count on getting 2 years out of players, anything more is icing

Olivia Miles stated that she left ND for two reasons and it was not about the money because she would have been the number 2 pick last year. She clearly said that she wanted to go to a team where she could fully showcase her talent all the way around. Her second reason was she had kind of lost the joy of playing. If I had to guess. HH came in and took the ACC by storm as well as ND. Remember Miles was still hurt and she could not play yet. When she got back, HH has already put her mark on the team and I do not think when you have to Alphas on the team one of them finds it kind of hard to take a back seat to the other. Both of these players are WNBA talent. HH was bringing the heat and putting pressure on the veterans. This goes back to what a poster had said about fearing the competition.

You think Olivia Miles did not get paid a ton of money at TCU?

ND had well documented locker-room issues, no doubt. the vast majority of the team left. But Olivia Miles got paid. both can be true at the same time.

I would bet a lot that she got paid at least twice as much at TCU as her WNBA rookie salary. Probably more like 4X or 5x. And even smarter, she waited until the WNBA's new CBA more than tripled the salary cap. I bet she goes this year. And her agent earned his/her commission by waiting.

Just didn't think LG would ever leave UNC. I could see everybody on the team leaving before I saw LG leaving.

Hot take, and some/most may disagree but I have one pro franchise that I follow (the Padres) but am not the biggest baseball fan. However, I eagerly follow all Tar Heel sports and am partial to those that want to be here.

3397Char I agree with you but this is what OM said in an interview that was done. I am stating what came out of her mouth. Also, she could have made more money going to the WNBA by being the number 2 pick and with all the endorsements she would have gotten thanks to CC and AR she would have made more money than what TCU paid her this year. So as she said it was not about the money. Paige made more with the commercials and endorsements she got. OM would have done the same. This year with the new CBA in the W, players are going to make way more money than what NIL money can give which I for one will say it is a long time overdue and I am glad that they are finally going to get paid like other professional sports.

This is just not factual.

the rookie salary cap in the WNBA last year was under $100K. The going rate for a college basketball player of her caliber is well over $500K. How much over? We do not know; these are private deals. Aliyah Chavez was reportedly paid $1 million, plus endorsements.

Here are the estimated breakdowns:

A quick internet search finds media Reports that indicate she is making roughly $930,000 more by staying in college for the 2025–26 season than she would have earned as a top WNBA rookie ($78,000 plus endorsements)

She has signed a "groundbreaking" marketing deal with Unrivaled and has had partnerships with brands like Stackwell Capital, Playa Society, and Hello Gorgeous! So she clearly has access to endorsements in college similar to what she would get in the pros. Better or worse? Who knows. But college gets her more generous deals from companies with an affinity for TCU.

Miles has noted that a significant portion of her income comes from a collective deal, which provides steady payments with fewer active requirements than traditional brand endorsements. This is money she could NOT have earned in the W; it is tied to TCU.

when she left ND, perhaps it was more than just the money. But we she signed at TCU, that was about the money. It is a team of NIL mercenaries.

Well, it does not matter now. With the new CBA she is going to make way more money in the W than she made at TCU.

I am trying to figure out what happen at VA. They have not made it that far in the tournament for 26 years. Even Dawn sent a congratulations message because she was turning the program around. This is unbelievable.

I know the article says it was toxic tarboy but if that was true then players should have been hitting the portal every year. We saw what just happened at Tennessee and Iowa State. So with that in mind, there should have been numerous players hitting the portal. Thanks tarboy for posting this.

UVA had 7 players transfer out last year and 4 the year before that.

I dont watch every game but watch more after nfl season on Sunday afternoon.

Her playing time was inconsistent and I thought she might be mad. I hate it.

My buddy from central NC moved to Richmond years ago and his son graduated hs w her.

From my understanding, it was more toxic to staff and administrators- alot of them left or were released I believe.

Grant lead our team in minutes per game. It was not playing time that pushed her to the portal.

We offered her the same NIL money as last year. She thought she deserved more. It is that simple.

Unless we overpaid her last year that’s a tough offer for someone who was consistently one of your best players.
