You’d think that anyone who has seen a decent sampling size of NCAA tournament games over a period of random years would already know to not be shocked when a game doesn’t go as expected.. when I started hearing whimpering in the media and from fans this week about how these two “juggarnauts” should not have to play each other in the semifinal It was almost destined to be a blowout.

I'd sue the **** out of UNC if I was Arizona. To come after their coach while they were still alive in the final four created a huge distraction. If you don't believe it think back to the uproar Chapman's tweet caused in 2014 and the ensuing egg we laid. Not fair to Zona and their fans.

Have to wonder if it did have an effect, certainly.

There is only one team that can win it all. It is important to keep that in mind. Folks tend to forget that.

exactly but when your team isn’t there it stings, when your team is suddenly eliminated and the season is over it sort of blinds you. Not to mention that when you see some of the same schools constantly there at the end you have to question what are they doing that we aren’t?

Arizona had an amazing year. First FF in 25 years. Other than the shellacking of how it ended their fans should really appreciate the season as a whole.

Not winning it all isn't the problem in this case. Lloyd was absolutely embarrassed on the national stage in the Final Four! That performance was horrible on every level imaginable. At one point they were down by 29! They looked lost, disjointed, confused and lethargic at times. Lloyd made no adjustments but just basically stood there with a lost puppy look on his face. The big stage was simply too big for him. I hope UNC ups their offer and he goes to UNC. He is what he is. He is a Sweet 16 coach who might go a bit farther from time to time.

I am sure out fans would appreciate making the FF and then having an epic collapse at playing basic basketball. This board would be awash in expressions of joy! (sarcasm)

they had a great year, there is no denying that regardless of the face plant. And this board is not gonna be fully happy unless it’s 6-0 in the NCAA’s every year.

i’ve also found that teams generally look amazing when their shots go in. (Sarcasm) Arizona’s strength was up front, going up against another team with a similar strength then you’d better have some other options and they had nobody hitting from three.

Chapmans tweet had nothing to do with losing in 2014 lol. The players admitted that they didn’t even know about it before the game.

Michigan vs Arizona shouldn't have been a final 4 game, it should have been for the title. Putting those teams on the same side of the bracket skewed the field. That being said, Arizona didn't show up and didn't want to fight for every possession after they got way down. Michigan is the more versatile roster. They can play big, can play well small, can make shots. They'll dig in and play D too at a high level. May has done one hell of a job. Hoping he can finish it off with a title.

Some have fun and don't walk around with upside down smiles on their faces regardless of how UK's season goes.
Sure - but this is the UK message board and there isn't much positive to talk about. If I want to talk about other hobbies, I'll go to a different place.

Did Pope make the Final 4 and I missed it?
Clearly some cant distinguish the difference between getting mud stomped by Iowa state in a second round game we were VERY lucky to make it to, and losing in the Final four. Yeah, it's the same thing in UKAA cheer team fantasy land.

You must be new or young. For UK to get blown out like Arizona did in the FF would have been an epic meltdown on this board and it would be repeated for years to come how bad the UK players and coach were. What happened to Arizona to get that close and then to not show up for the game and have a coach who was clueless how to stop the bleeding would not have gone over well here.

While it might not seem to make sense logically, it is far worse for the board to accept a catatrophic loss in the FF than an early round loss. RR posters just hate getting close and losing more than anything. Posters don't care nearly as much about a team losing that had no shot at a title as they do about a team that was expected by many to be cutting down the nets. The level of disappointment is completely different.

Mark Few to the T
Mark Few has gone to the FF whenever he has had solid NBA-talented rosters.

2017, he got a team with Hachimura and Zach Collins (among others) to the FF. Several yrs later, (I believe when Lloyd was at AZ), He took a freshman led team (Jalen Suggs) to the title game. The next year, he had #1 recruit Chet, and got another 1 seed, but lost in the S16. Disappointment, yes, but elite recruiting for Gonzaga standards.

Yeah, he hasn't won, but 2 FFs at Gonzaga is pretty ******* impressive. I would put Lloyd one rung under him.
