So because Talia Goodman didn’t list Iowa you fear the staff isn’t doing their due diligence?
Both the women's staff and men's staff are very busy right now. First and foremost is retention of key existing players. Some are looking for more playing time others more compensation. Then once they know who will return, they can fill the gaps.

Easier for Jan because she has plenty of open slots. Guards and wings are critical. it is a balancing act between the portal and building a strong 27 class.

2027 recruit Finley Parker commits to Indiana. 6'2" G/F from Georgia. We had been in contact with her.

The new IU recruiter has really helped IU’s high school recruiting in both their ‘26 and “27 classes. Iowa needs Barrett to be a plus recruiter.

Maybe? On the bright side she's a 41% 3pt shooter. With her, CCW, and Strem that's 3 40+ percent 3 point shooters.
Also a plus perimeter defender from what I saw during the Ole Miss-Minnesota NCAAT game. Can move her feet. Ole Miss ran their last-second play to try to beat the Gophers to her, but she missed the shot.

IMO we need at least one and maybe two starter caliber players from the portal.

I am not sold on Stremlow. She is ok, but not above average. She played 25 minutes a game (maybe only in B1G) and only took 6 shots. So going with averages that is 6 points a game. Also, she only shot 68% from the line - for a guard that is not good. And her 3pt per cent was 37% - although she jumped that up 6 points from last year. As I said she is ok, but not really good. She could improve everything a little and would be in the pretty good player range.

Agree, Stremlow would be a good six man/woman. She also needs to not turn it over so much. She went a stretch where she was taking care of the ball pretty good and then went back to being careless with it. She's a good role player

Out of sheer boredom, I perused Tania Goodman's list of potential portal enrollees and found the following women who would not command a huge signing stipend, yet would be functional players. None are top ten/twenty transfers but Iowa needs players and JJ doesn't want to spend needlessly.
Tell me if you agree with any of them.
Forwards--
Mia Woolfolk
Anete Adler
Jessica Petrie
Sa'Myah Smith

Guards--
Kiyomi Miller
Talaysia Cooper
Tara Daye
Deniya Prawl
Naomi White
Janae Brantley
Madi Morson
Camryn Runner
Taylor Barbot
Taryn Barbot (twins) These girls are relentless and can score.

What are your thoughts?

Some of those would be very expensive...like Kyomi Mcmiller and Cooper.

Not really good?? She had better numbers than nearly 5 star freshman out there and most of the players in these lists. If you want to compare her to other players you should use her conference numbers since those are the numbers against better competition where most of her starts come from.

Her stats were excellent:

3 point shooting 41% #2 on team
2 point shooting 69% #1 on team
EFG % 65% #2 on team
Free throw% 75% #4 on team
Assists per game 4.4 #2 on team
Points per game 8.7 #4 on team

I'd say she's already better than "pretty good"...and better than most of the players in the portal.

Totally disagree, she gives 110%. Got better as the season progressed. Improved in every category during the big season.

Where did those stats come from? Iowa website shows as poster posted in 506:
48.1 2pt
37.1 3 pt
67.7% FTs
She did have 146 assist, most on the team.

As I stated, I'm using conference numbers because that's where Stremlow was starting and playing against better competition. I don't really care about what happened early in the season against the Evansvilles and Drakes of the world when she was coming off of the bench.

I guess she did up her game in the B1G. However, I think she was pretty selective in shooting as she took around 3 3pt shots and 3 2pt shots a game and less than 1 free throw a game. You could look at that and say she is a team player but you can also say she can't make her own shot........

She had the highest assist rate on the team. The fact that she also shot a ridiculous 69% from 2 point range as a guard also shoots a huge hole in your argument that she can't create her own shot.

Maybe we need to go the overseas route as well.

More and more foreign players are taking up spots in the WNBA Draft each year, and you're starting to see them seep into women's college rosters as well (been going on with men's rosters for a while).

Let's go get one of the top guards from France, England or Spain, so we can win a national championship.

Yes. I don’t know why Iowa is apparently neglecting pursuit of foreign talent. It’s sort of puzzling because Iowa WBB has status. Ask top foreign prospects to name their favorite player and I’d bet Caitlin Clark is mentioned most often. There is some recruiting capital being wasted IMO.

Iowa tried and failed last spring to land a couple of foreign PG options that were in the portal: Elina Aarnisalo (Finland) and Gal Raviv (Israel). Think Iowa (state/school) is still a tough sell to foreign players with attractive options.

You under sell Iowa because of (insert your own rational here)

Players from Europe and other places are not going to be as turned off to Iowa as you are.

Women's field hockey has been able to bring in plenty of amazing athletes from Europe...hell some of them are out there competing in shorts when the American players on the team we have are dressed like it's cold or something.

I do believe that as the years go by you will see more and more international players on Iowa and every other team. NIL makes high level US colleges even more attractive to to international student athletes than it has been in the past.
