Chance to be tied for 1st place in conference. Thought of as one of the conference leaders. Well on our way to the playoffs. Maybe even thinking of bigger things.

Just so damn tired of the Jekyll and Hyde of Rutgers sports.
This....THIS a million times over...now we'll end up winning 1 of the last 2 BUT likely still need to win the B1G tourney to get to the NCAA's. Just to torture us all.

Not for nothing, but Michigan’s offense operated how I EXPECTED ours to operate under Bieda, with constant motion and scheming guys open for open looks.

All I’m seeing from our team is high screens and iso ball — same offense we saw pre Bieda.

Making it hard on ourselves. Gotta get next week. Hopefully we can get healthy.

Gotta for Michigan some credit. They shot outstanding and made some incredible individual efforts. Tough loss. On to Maryland

Much of that is personnel. We don’t have that super high IQ inside guy like Roode for Michigan.. The offense is much different now. We play a ton of two man and pick games. We did none of that before Bieda. As he gets his recruits in you’ll see it evolve.

We need 3/4 wins. This was hopefully one but no luck.

We need a couple guys back or it’s going to be very hard. Michigans D is suspect. Without Sommer our attack looked disjointed. They had really developed chemistry. Remove one piece, we move Kelly down, and all of a sudden the gears don’t move as easily. Lawler out at midfield is exacerbating that. Face offs are always tough without the number 1. We need these guys back.

Road wins are tough in this league. They are gold. Makes our OSU loss that much tougher.

Are we the only program that has injuries? It's the same excuses every year for this team.

No, but we are the only program I’m aware of that is down to their 5th attackmen, minus a starting midfielder along with the starting fogo. There are no excuses at this level. There are a few teams that can withstand those losses. We weren’t one of them. Look at our scores, our margin for error isn’t big. No one cares outside of the program. You win or lose with who you have, but for us, we need those guys or it will be harder.

7-19. That was the faceoff disparity. I know you didn’t play lacrosse but that had a cascading effect. You play more free when you know you will get the ball after a score. Conversely, it all tightens up when you don’t. Moreso when you take a cog out of the wheel. Or a couple. This isn’t basketball where you automatically get the ball after the opponent scores. No one cares though. We have to find a way. Maryland has the second best fogo in the country. We are going to have to junk it up. I’d consider Splaine at faceoff. Let Dodge win it then force him to carry and transition.

How many more disappointing seasons do Rutgers fans have to endure regardless of sport?

At the half RU had won 40% of faceoffs. Shows what a disaster the 2nd half was.

Gut punch especially after how we started this game. Michigan defeated our ride by simply throwing the ball out of bounds repeatedly. Lack of possession due to faceoffs. Miserable day in miserable weather on the road on senior day. Hate losing to Michigan!

Got to figure out why our best player on offense is struggling in conference play. In the last 3 games, Colin Kurdyla only has 7 pts (5 goals) and 10 TOs. He lead the team yesterday in TOs with 5.

Probably shouldn't be taking insanely difficult shots when he's double and triple-teamed instead of passing to 1 of 2 teammates who are wide-open. The announcers were 100% correct yesterday.

He didn't have his best day and I am sure he will be the first to tell you that. They will look at film and be better. I'm very concerned about faceoffs against Maryland. Their offense looked better this past weekend. We can't allow them to continuously get the ball. Obviously we need to score more. We got away from what we did in the first half which was moving without the ball. It lead to some great opportunities.

We dropped to 16 in RPI. We need to grab 3/4 wins looking at the big picture.

That needs to be remedied in officiating. They were clearly not trying to shoot on goal. It was a wild throw to the endline, that's it.

Guys, it's sports. The team is 8-4. It was a disappointing loss but not completely unexpected. Michigan has NIL and scholarships. Their record isn't great but they have talent and resources too. We are now 11-3 all time against them. They are going to win sometimes. The important thing is how we bounce back after a bad performance. Maryland is another opportunity. Tough ask as all away games are in this league, but possible. Need a week of practice like we had prior to Hopkins.

Needs to be a team effort on FOs with our backup. Wings gotta deliver the punishment if their FOGO isnt winning clean. Lay down some wood and make him hear footsteps and have him thinking.

Tough one, Rutgers. I was following your game on my drive back from Maryland, and it seemed early on that it would be a rout. At least you pulled that one out last week; that helps. Hope to see your team and mine in the post-season...

I think it's rather obvious that he's struggling because teams are defending him tightly with a pole and then are immediately doubling him when he gets the ball anywhere near the cage. On several occasions, he was trying to fight and pinball his way through multiple defenders, but he got the ball knocked loose on multiple occasions. It's gotta be really difficult to be No. 1A and 1B on every opposing team's scouting report.

Thanks, Matt. You answered my question which was, did our #1 FOGO go down against Johns Hopkins?

Yes he took two or 3 very poor angle shots while double teamed and that cost us dearly at the end; but still not sure why our offense doesn't look any different than last year so much one on one

Beat mediocre Jacksonville in OT. Beat mediocre Nova 8-7. Struggled against SB 14-11. Hofstra 11-8. Smoked some really bad teams. Got wrecked by Princeton. Stole a game from JHU. Tough loss to OSU. UM debacle. Two must wins ahead or it will be an absolute disaster of a season.

Right 8-4. JHU stole a game from Uva. OSU stole a game from us. It happens. Disaster with a winning record lol.

Tells you how far the program has come.
One win over a ranked team and it took a gift from JHU and 2OT.

The other 7 wins are against Jacksonville, Nova, SB, Bellarmine, SJ, LIU, Hofstra. And a bunch of those wins were close games.

Gut-check coming with MD.

That wasn't a gift anymore than the gift we gave OSU or Uva gave to JHU. In our case, we made incredible plays to make that happen. You seem to have very little respect for the athletes and what they accomplish. Close games mean nothing. You win or you lose.

Maryland will be favored by at least 2 goals. Maybe more with what have available. I'm most interested in the PSU game. I will be surprised if they aren't competitive at Maryland, even with what is working for the other side.

Respect has nothing to do with it. what RU-JHU game did you watch? JHU had the ball at X end line with 12 seconds left. In 99.999% of games = it’s over. That JHU player could have done anything - fall to the ground, chuck the ball straight in the air, throw it to the opposite corner…and JHU wins. He threw it down field OOBs! Any ball on the ground and it chews up clock. That wasn’t a close game it was a gift which we gladly accepted. Great win.

No I didn't watch it. You're right. Everything is luck when we win. Especially when we have 13 more shots forcing their goalie to make 20 saves, many of them ridiculous. You're a lacrosse savant. I'm in awe.

So if you find $100 on the street do you consider it luck or earned? You must not follow lax outside of RU because just about every single lacrosse focused media outlet killed JHU for that play. The game was over - period - until it wasn’t. Amazing win but it’s not like RU won a FO and punched it home or made a save to start the play. JHU made the unthinkable play. But appreciate your RU positivity.

If I outsprinted 30 other guys and beat up 4 others for it, I'd say I earned it.

Btw, games aren't over until one team has the lead and 00.0 are on the clock. A lacrosse savant should know that.

Yes wings have to help a ton.

Speaking from my experience many years ago, there are few things more discouraging facing off against a talented opponent and winning the initial draw then getting mauled by 1 or 2 wings that outhustled your teammates. A weak opponent is different in that when you gain clear possession before the wings arrive you can set up a fast break opportunity.
