It is interesting to hear about some of the very lightly-recruited players, like Wagler (Illinois) and Tanner (Vanderbilt) who end up being fabulous.
It is obvious that all the schools read the ratings, perform their analytics, etc ... and are all after the "top-rated" recruits, be it the portal or high school ranks. If you were a coach, who would be a lesser-known player that you might be willing to take a shot on ?? The kind that might be overlooked, but wants to prove himself ???
I posted this about this player a few weeks ago, when he entered the portal. He will definitely be flying below radar, but I just have a hunch he might be a real player with something to prove to all the doubters. Jordan Frison is the kind of point guard that I've always enjoyed seeing play and root for ... ala Tyler Ulis, Travis Ford, Ronnie Lyons. He is currently rated the #21 PG and #92 player overall, so I realize he would be a gamble. Still, though, I'd be taking a good hard look at him. You know he will be giving you incredible effort, trying to prove that he can play on the big stage. To my view, he's the kind of player that Pitino would be taking a look at. I assume is height is accurate at 6'0" ... as listed. He sure can shoot it !! To my view, he's the type of player that Rick Barnes at Tennessee (Ziegler) and Bruce Pearl at Auburn (Green) would probably be going after ... quick, little guys with a bigtime stroke !!
