Whats the reason why Pope wont get any of these top 5 guards?
He won’t get Bidunga because he will end up at Duke. No idea bout the rest. I’m not plugged in like most of these expert posters who know everything. I’m the dumb guy who thought a top 7 high school class and top 5 portal class was pretty good. But apparently that’s terrible so we will see.
Has he ever gotten a top 5 anything? He just got his FIRST 2026 recruit by hiring an underwhelming guy’s dad.
He's waiting to announce a top five class, he's keeping everyone waiting to build up the excitement, a different way of approaching things, though supposedly he's getting four of the top 10 players in the portal - like Shark Tale - True Story, LOL.
Up to this point he hasn't been able to get his top choices. In a few weeks we should know if that changes and what our roster will be.
We have a huge number of roster spots open with plenty of money to spend. You know why we aren’t getting any of these guys.
Their analytics don’t fit the mold of “beautiful” basketball. And we have a legit whiff God as head coach. 22M roster out in the round of 32.
He goes after the wrong guys.
Guys that have pro aspirations and just need a chance to develop and showcase are not going to play for a coach that has no record of doing that.
Pope needs to get guys that are good college players and that know college is their ceiling. They have to already have been coached and are self motivated.
But he doesn’t go after those guys. By the time he realizes he’s not getting his targets the portal only has leftovers looking for the biggest paycheck.
Top 5 in losing records at UK, Tops in most double digit loses in consecutive seasons. Leader in comeback wins while being down at the half. Pope is breaking records that we never thought possible.
Those 2 classes resulted in 12 and 14 losses respectively, so by UK standards, that is terrible!
What do you consider “terrible” by UK standards?
I wasn’t talking about the quality of a season. Do you understand the difference between recruiting and talent evaluation? You don’t retroactively decide whether or not someone could recruit based on how the team performed. It’d be like saying the 2021 Kentucky team sucked because John Calipari couldn’t recruit —- no, that was a top RECRUITING class. It did show he incorrectly assessed the fit of his team and his talent evaluation was off.

We are in good shape to land 2 of those but we should definitely get 1 regardless. I love the options we have in the portal. If the staff does it right we could end up with a great team next year.
well, it’s pretty much proven that you don’t win much with lots of top freshman. The time hasn’t come to be getting portal targets yet so I guess there’s your answer.

as a fan you complain all year about miss spending 22M and then complain when the staff doesnt go after the massive high dollar guys.

our budget is probably less this year due to popes failures with the big 20 mil roster
Doesn't matter if its half, $11M is still a top end budget
If it's just 11 mil, you stretch it over 7 guys and roll the dice and hope no injuries haha, that's what I would do... all or nothing, so that 11 mil still goes and gets some really top end players.

He didn’t hire his dad to get him to sign and you know it. Mo wants to coach his son. He was only taking the job if his son could come too. You can be mad about stuff but let’s not exaggerate when there’s already enough negative to hate on
I’m sorry, but look at him, listen to him, watch him coaching / squinting on the sidelines, read the things he says. The man is smart and he’s successful in terms of wealth but in reality he’s a frickin’ weirdo nerd that literally presents himself like Rainman or a character from the Dumb and Dumber movie.
