UK gifted UCONN and Kevin Ollie the title in 2014. UConn fired him like 3 years later.
He called that Flagg would turn it over? He’s on tape calling out exactly what Flagg would do, that was paying attention to the tape and his game. He made some great adjustments for defense in the second half(which to give him credit he seems to always have us play better in second halves) and how we started running offense.
That a$$hole took 3 likely titles from us - 2011, 2015, and 2017.
Who’s your favorite anti-analytics coach these days in college basketball? Looks like the F4 was made up entirely of analytics-driven coaches.Don’t worry guys, analytics and Jackson St. players will lead us to the promise land! Hope in Pope!!!!!
So fricken true. We had only Travis Perry on the team Coach Pope inherited. And only had about a month to scrap up a team so I think that he did a great job under the circumstancesHe started in April with no players. Hence any "rational" person...
6th in the sec is a good year for Kentucky? was it 12 losses that year as well? and multiple blow out losses. He did have a good first year. No rational person would say otherwise. His second year sucked
Dusty May says otherwise about "rational" as well as Indiana and their 2nd year football coach winning the national title easily. Both examples also good their first years. NIL Era is different, and if you have Kentucky's bank roll to get the players you want, there are no excuses. He started in April with no players. Hence any "rational" person...

"Kentucky" isn't "Kentucky" when its just a bench with no asses on it6th in the sec is a good year for Kentucky? was it 12 losses that year as well? and multiple blow out losses.
You are wrong .... see how that works. You say ridiculous with no rebuttal argument and i just fire some rhetoric back, "you are wrong."Ridiculous
No, its ridiculous because you take examples that have zero to do with our situation. Indiana Football? We are talking Hoops dude. Dusty May? He went 27-10 and S16 year one. Poeo went 24-12 and S16. No one is defending Pope vs May, the argument was did Pope have a good first year or bad one. He had the same damn first season Pope did lolYou are wrong .... see how that works. You say ridiculous with no rebuttal argument and i just fire some rhetoric back, "you are wrong."
May won the big 10 tournament is first year and finished 2nd.. big difference 27-10 vs a 6th place finish in the SEC and no tournament success in conference and 12 losses...No, its ridiculous because you take examples that have zero to do with our situation. Scheyer? LMFAO, are you REALLY comparing the situation Scheyer came into to the heaping pile of dung Pope took over? No one is defending Pope, but fair is fair, he was terrible yeat two, but he was good year one by anyone who isn't deranged standardsMay won the big 10 tournament is first year and finished 2nd.. big difference 27-10 vs a 6th place finish in the SEC and no tournament success in conference and 12 losses...
It's not even an Average season by kentucky standards... the only part that was average by kentucky standards was a sweet 16 which we have been to 45 or 46 of those.
I brought up football because it shows with NIL era you can build a team and win a title in year 2 which Michigan may do and Indiana did do.
What about Scheyer at Duke in his first season 27-9, won ACC tournament, 3rd place conference finish.
If you wanted to make a counter argument, you should have brought up the fact Kentucky played a harder SOS and the sec was the best conference of all time, but you couldn't even think of that.
All these other coaches improved in year 2.
Average ... just not going to call it good. None of that matters though ... what is the argument you have? That pope needs year 3 or year 4?Scheyer? I have seen enough and Don't think he would ever do better than a sweet 16 and 25 win season. He has a large body of work to judge.
There were other coaches we could have hired that had at least won more than 25 games before, had a top 50 defense before, won their conference or conference tournament before, heck just won ONE ncaa game.
Wish we had a serious AD to maintain our records/place in CBB. Thank you, Mitch Barnhart. Hiring an awful coach with 0 NCAAT wins, 3 days after a HOF coach resigned.
and kept joker one year too many because they became buddies. Cost us twenty thousand fans . Remember when our motto was Seventy Thousand strong .The man that hired Joker, Billy Clyde and Pope.
