That statement in a nutshell is why we can't get top recruits here or top portal guys. What elite athlete would want to hear that mantra throughout the season.

Between the three leaving to the portal and Oweh, Aberdeen and JQ, there’s six “blocks” that won’t be back, and it’s probably not over. They still need depth and role players. It’s just a whole new area of basketball now though that I don’t really care for. on the documentary, there was a guy boo’ing at the end of the Gonzaga game and other fans were getting on him. I used to be on the side, don’t boo the players. I changed my tune on that too, they want big boy money, they get big boy criticism.
I’ve always viewed guys who did the “always carry a basketball” thing as being incredibly immature and insecure. There is nothing valuable or enviable about it. My college roommate did it his entire freshman year. Grow up…
It’s ridiculous the coach of a D1 team let alone the one of a historic program says something as dumb as that.
