I see the usual chicken little are already out.
would you rather go 4-4 at the beginning of the season or 4-4 at the end of the season when we are 2 games out of the playoffs? We are starting the season against Pitt/St.L/SF - we should not be 4-4

Nobody is gonna remember what the Mets record was after eight games at the beginning of the season.
Or what th Yankees record was after eight games.

So- you missed last year??? I always find fans of any sport that discount wins and losses based on what part of the season it is- to just be pretty darn dumb. You play a finite number of games.

This thinking in baseball is ridiculous. It's not football. We won a series and lost a series. One up in the air. We don't even know how SF will end up or St Louis. Some of the bats are a bit cold to begin the year which happens especially with Lindor. Some are hot. We started the season last year on fire and fizzled out. The year we before the exact opposite and went to the NLCS.

You literally can't tell a thing in 8 games in baseball. You should know better but I think your Stearns hate is getting in the way.

Btw- my comments are not booing- I hope Stearns is successful and not only proves me wrong but gets me on his side. But last year was on him with a horrific trade deadline. This year- as I even said earlier is a show me year.

mans love the game pitched by Holmes.
And I do believe Bichette will be tge back of his BB card. But he is perfect proof of what Stearns sits on my bad side- the guy gives nothing but BS to the fans. Just does not come across as a transparent upfront type of guy.

Can't trust Stearns, which makes it somewhat difficult to watch this team. I have no issue with players, but my hate for him is greater than Eppler. My fury for the liar clouds my judgement of the team.

Good series win !
Arizona and the A’s are eh teams but looks like Mets are getting top of the Dbaks rotation. They will also have to face our 2 Aces while struggling to score runs( 6 of 9 games scoring 2 or less)

The overall team D has been much better so far as well. Bichette right now has been the sore spot but by June I'm confident it's going to be a lot better there. 1B rotation D has been so much better especially with range towards 2B.

Don't worry we'll watch for you. But im sure you have or will be watching anyway. Especially if the sucess continues.
With Stearns, it feels like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football and having it snatched from you just as you attempt to kick the ball. It's not the players, it's Stearns with that snugged attitude that gets under my skin.

I'm a Rutgers fan, so watching and suffering is par for the course. I can take the punishment. :ROFLMAO:

I get it- Pete was not a great 1B by any means- but, throw away the analytics and watch the game- if you think these !B have looked better than Pete, you arent watching. even the runner interference- analytics won't show it but Vientos should have caught that ball easily. There is no way our infielders feel confident throwing to 1B. And Bo may pass as serviceable at 3B but only because we have SUCKED at 3B...
Bats will most likely come around- but there is no way to argue "run prevention" as the primary change this off season.

Lol the D has literally been better statistically and with the eye test. Semien is so smooth and I've seen plays from 1B ranging towards 2B that Alonso never would have made. Robert Jr consistently in CF and corners much better with Soto move and Benge in. Bichette working on things and again he hasn't looked good there yet but will be an improvement. 100% it's been better.

St Louis series weather was awful so hard to take much out of that one. Pitt looking good after they stopped playing us and took 3 of 4 on road against a decent SF team. Pitching has been really good overall especially the pen minus Lovelady who won't be here in a month. A lot to like here so far. We'll know better by Mem Day though.

I have the same take on the D. Bichette will be interesting to watch over time. He has the ability to be a good 3B, and he's certainly much more suited for it than SS. What he struggles with, however, is how to approach and glove the ball. It doesn't look like he can't. It looks like he's not sure whether to backhand, straddle, short hop or lay back. All that can be remedied by time. Of course, maybe not. Time will tell. But I think he'll improve and become a good 3B. He's too good of an athlete. On the 1B side, Pete could scoop, but lacked range, particularely to his right, and had a bad case of the yips throwing to the bag, something that helped get Senga injured last year. We're probably already better defensively at first.

But all that is just hyperfocusing on the moves that certain fans cried over. The team is better up the middle. 2B is better. CF is better. SS is strong. Alvarez with Torrnes behind the plate looks like a strong C position. If Alvarez keeps hitting, he's All Star material. RF is also better defensively, but I'm worried that Benge is up a bit too early. Regardless, we have to play him now. Soto is fine in LF.

Fun team to watch develop. We'll see if the pitching holds up for a year. Again, I'm just glad we have a proven GM who doesn't run the team like he's listening too much to Sal from Queens and Joey from Brooklyn.

Couldn't agree more with all of this.

Let's hope Soto is back shortly as well.
