It’s everything. The starting pitching has been terrible. We’re lucky if our starter lasts 4 innings, and forget about pitching into the 6th or 7th inning. This puts a strain on our already depleted — due to season ending TJ surgeries for a bunch of our key relievers — bullpen, and those guys are up and down. Why is baseball team so streaky? They’ll beat a team 11-0 then lose the next game 6-5. And vice versa like beat VT 16-1 then lose the next two like 4-2? Is it pitching?

The hitting has been a real disappointment after we were told this would be our best hitting team in a few years. We haven’t had much punch, and the team seems immune to clutch hits with runners in scoring position.
And — pet peeve — everybody swings at the first pitch, and nobody is working the count. So we’re letting the opposing starting pitchers sail through innings only throwing 10 pitches and being able to last longer than our starters. In comparison, when Borghese was yanked in the 3rd inning yesterday, his pitch count was already in the 60s.
