You maybe correct. I’m not sure that means a different hire would be better than Jan. I may be reading too much in to Beth’s thinking but here is how I look at it. The program was in a great place competitively, has a first rate culture, and greatly respected in the athletic community. Jan was a top assistant coach who was instrumental in building all of the above. The hire was a reward for her work and a statement that we are very pleased with the success and direction of the program. Personally, I’m OK with that kind of thinking. Jan has not disappointed. It is what it is. Let’s support and move on.

Weird end of 1st qtr Msu has ball Oklahoma has only two team fouls and chooses not to foul, MSU gets layup. I thought Jan was the only coach in the country that didn't foul in those scenarios.

We'll never know.

Do you know who else Beth interviewed before naming JJ HC?

Iowa is, without much question, one of the best coaching jobs in WBB.
The list of high level applicants would have probably been a long one.
And they'd have lost all their recruits, momentum, and a good chunk of the fanbase. Beth is a smart AD

This topic is idiotic. Jennie B has way more resources and oil money to buy a team of McDonald's AAs. And they barely beat MSU at home. Oklahoma has an incredible roster and didnt look that good all year

Did you like what you saw today, a supposedly great coach and a great team got their a$$es handed to them? Maybe Jenni is just over her head out there.

Also, will share a story I read on another forum about Iowa's portal activity last spring that will be a WTF moment.
I'll relay that in a couple weeks.

Please see my post #38 this thread to refresh what I think of you as a poster. No changes in my opinion, you continue to add nothing but continue to be an *******.

Admit it, you're running out of reasons to defend the wbb late season collapse.
Was it disappointing? Sure. But I don't go to the men's site and say I don't watch the women's game when you do nothing but ***** about her coaching every game. So are you watching or not?

She was an assistant coach to Fennelly for six years back in the day, but at age 59 now I think Iowa State would like for a younger coach in another year.
Bill wants to hand the program off to his son who is on the staff.

I absolutely think you are right. I am not sure that is the direction the AD will want to go now. Maybe time for a clean start. However, I am sure Bill Fennelly having one more year on his contract is making that difficult for Pollard. Time will tell. Another messy situation for the AD.

Story is that the old drunk has a "longevity" clause on his contract that automatically pays him $700k on 7-1-27.

Given what next season will look like, a smart AD would negotiate something less and promise BF some "tribute".

Wonder what went down in Georgia. Players defecting, and now the coach. Interested to hear if any players change their mind, or if this is really about administrative support ($).
ADs actively trying to improve a program.

Everyone gets evaluated.
Refreshing concept.

Of the 15 public SEC schools, Georgia is 14th in WBB spending. Not sure how hard Georgia is trying in WBB. Alabama is last and their coach also just left.

Was either contacted after Bluder retired?

Both with previous head coaching experience. Both Iowa natives.

At least reach out to determine possible interest.
Decided to check this thread out - am I surprised at all on who the OP was?
