I think whoever is NU's primary ball-handler next year needs to be a scoring threat. Doesn't mean he has to monopolize the ball, and I would not want that. But even though Lawrence was a pass-first guy, this year's Huskers were at their best when he was hunting some shots and putting up points - the wins at Indiana and Illinois and the close loss at Michigan, for example. Later in the season he was less much aggressive offensively. That was fine if Sandfort was filling it up, but not so fine if he wasn't.
Sam's production won't be easy to replace, because he had a really good season. But despite what the national talking heads kept saying, Sam didn't play PG. He was kind of a Swiss Army knife who didn't really play a traditional position. Sam was way more of a Dennis Rodman than a John Stockton, and I mean that in a good way.
