Did David Ford get into the Players as the first alternate? If not, what a bum deal with Morikawa withdrawing after one hole.

Course playing tough in you find the rough. I like it. Easy way to combat the tech growth for the pros. Could also grow out the fairways, which are known closer than decades ago.

Good to see Fitzy pick up a win yesterday after the Players defeat. I was kind of shocked it was only his third PGAT win. Feels like he's been a Top 15 golfer in the world for as long as I can remember.

I also saw that BDC beat Rahm in LIV South Africa, which seems to be a recent trend. It's almost like playing 72 holes allows more time for the cream to rise to the top. Who could have ever foreseen such a thing?

I always thought it was an example of LIV not getting out of their own way. You need your stars to perform well for the league to perform well, and the best way to do that is to play more rounds. Any golf league is more entertaining and marketable when they have stars winning; not parity.

Lastly, TGL best of 3 finals start tonight at 9PM. Second match is tomorrow night at 7 and the third, if necessary, will follow at 9.

Bhatia from here in Wake Forest. Has stated he played Paschal golf course. Amazing he’s a multiple time PGA champion from that place. Surely, as he grew he moved up to a longer course(s). I think he’ll win a major before it’s over.

Jup lost the first match in a best of three last night on the final hole when Kisner (why was he playing that long par 5?) choked away the match. Going to be really hard for Jupiter to win, so I guess everyone figured Tiger would at least give a ratings boost and he can't play any worse than Kisner.

NLU was having a discussion last week about whether he's currently the second best American golfer and it's a pretty legitimate argument to make, depending on how you weight BDC in LIV events.

I've played Paschal an embarrassing number of times. I can picture the tee on the first hole, where I would inevitably hook it up that hill on the left side or push it into the creek on the right. LOL.

Isn't Paschal the original Wake Forest course that Arnie played when he was in college?

Yep. I'm guessing it was in better condition back then. To be fair, I played Paschal last summer and the greens were in better shape than I expected.
It's a decent course for kids learning to play, and for adults like me who can't keep it in the fairway.

Maybe not. Just rolled his car over.

Apparently there were no injuries, but I've never met anyone who wants to die in a car crash more than Tiger Woods.

He needs to stay far away from the driver seat or perhaps just never get in a car again.

Tiger passed the breathalyzer completely but refused a drug test. Most likely pain killers but a lot of scuttlebutt that the real reason he refused was PEDs would have shown up. Tiger has gotten absolutely jacked again physically and at his age, and with his injury history, that is really hard to do

Was lucky enough to get tickets in the lottery this year. Excited is an understatement.

My boss is flying into RDU in mid may for a 3 day golf bender. He's bringing two buddies (I played with them all a year ago in Boston) and I'm tasked with setting up what courses we play each day.

What are your thoughts on an itinerary/courses you would want to hit? I think we're largely going to avoid Pinehurst due to cost/driving. I looked and Tobacco Road is already sold out for that weekend.

Hubert not being told he's being let go yet seems pretty significant. Would mean he hasn't been given the retirement or be fired ultimatum. Would mean Roy's politicking still could work. Not so sure this is over yet.

Chapel Ridge in Pittsboro. A top 5 course in NC (I've played Tobacco Road and #2). Great layout, elevation changes feel like the foothills, every hole is good. When I played in December there was an oddity in that two or three of the par 3s had a mat on the tee. No idea why, tee boxes were fine. Suffice to say we did not abide; I'd be surprised if they are still using them. Mill Creek in Mebane would be another course if you're up for traveling toward the Triad.

These recommendations make you realize that the Triangle is sorely lacking for public golf.

I'm a member at The Preserve and get discounted rounds at Chapel so I'm very familiar with it. This is what I was thinking:

Friday - try like hell to get on at Lonnie, if not Lonnie then play Washington Duke
Saturday - 36, start with 18 at the Preserve followed by 18 at Chapel Ridge
Sunday - If we degen out at Danville Saturday night then we'll play Goodyear. If not then Duke (if we played Lonnie Friday) or something like River Ridge/Pine Hollow

Have you played Mill Creek lately? If you would have asked me 3 years ago I would have told you it was my favorite course in NC. Been in mediocre shape the last couple of times I played it and a friend said it was pretty poor last week...it used to be immaculate. Hate it.

Ooh...I have not played Mill Creek in a few years. Hate to hear if it's dipped. Guy I got paired with a few months ago told my friend and me about Goodyear. Had never heard of it, definitely interested in checking it out.

Lonnie Poole is the type of course where first time players just need to know it's HARD. I've played it maybe 10 times. Back 9 especially is just really a tough test (for this bogey golfer at least).

Now I need to get out to the Preserve again lol.
